Chantilly funshow this weekend, anyone going? May go Friday with co-workers. Surprised there aren't any threads on it. Wish it was about 2 weeks later, after payday |

Sorta discussing it there. I will be there on Saturday afternoon , probably looking for some old guns and militaria |
|
I'll be there.
Sign up or renew your NRA membership to get in free. Or for those of you already life members, here's the link to the $1 off coupon ($12 ––> $11). Scroll down halfway to see it. http://www.thenationsgunshow.com/ And no complainin' about parking. We all need exercise don't we?? |
|
I actually need a couple of odds and ends, but because of various scheduling issues, I won't make this one. Because of all the rain, my son has make up HS lax games this afternoon, tomorrow afternoon, and Monday afternoon, and we're going out on the bay fishing Sunday.
So, anybody want to work a shopping list for me?

Wish it was about 2 weeks later, after payday Funny, I was thinking the exact same thing about vendors. We already know Georgia Arms won't be there, and I suspect a few other usual ammo dealers won't be there either. Likewise, I doubt some platform-specific dealers - like J&T - will be there. Why? If they had parts to sell at the show, they'd have used them to fill their backorders. I predict a high volume of customers, many of them leaving disappointed that they couldn't find the firearm they were looking for, or that the price being charged was even extraordinarily higher than usual. I also predict that this absence of some vendors will create the perception, if not invite the reality, of more (1) Fudd Gun Vendors –– you know the ones I mean, (2) Beanie Baby Lady, (3) Beef Jerky guy, (4) Nazi Paraphernalia guys, and (5) Airsoft/Knife/Stun-Gun/Why-The-Heck-Would-You-Buy-Anything-He's-Selling guy. Someone's going to have to let me know how (in)accurate my prediction is, because I won't be able to make this one. _MaH |

Once they let people in, it moved fairly quickly. Beautiful day and better to wait in line at a funshow then be at work. Ammo vendors were slammed, everyone had a handtruck and wheeling it out. Prices thru the roof, some of the smaller guys/gun vendors had a few boxes here and there, costs alittle more, but at least you can find some. |

... I doubt some platform-specific dealers - like J&T - will be there. ... You missed there. Granted, they’re display certainly wasn’t like times past. Parking lots were nearly full at around 3. And as far as I could tell, the coin show wasn’t going on today. Lots and lots and lots of guys staggering through the parking lot carrying cases of ammo to their cars. Extremely crowded when I walked in the door at 3:15. Quite a bit less crowded when I left at 5. First time I ever saw the line at T&T snake literally all the way around his display. It was like they had him surrounded! Didn’t see any primers on display or being purchased, but I didn’t get a chance to ask for sure. He did have quite a bit of powder. Dark Sun had military M-16 30 rounds mags (used, but good shape) for $15. 20 round mags were $20. They had several Ruger LCP’s for $328 I forget who, but somebody sorta near the “CLIPS” display in the back had a DPMS AR for $899. It looked new. I used to enjoy gunshows, but as of late they’ve become more like work!

Yup. I bought some odds and ends, but nothing really good that I saw that most of us would be interested. And not much more than the usual gunshow stuff - J&T was there, Tony's Custom Uppers was there, and a few other. PMAGs were available from $18-25 a pop.
The ammo guy from NJ was there. He told me he had lots of Federal 9mm for $258/1000. It all sold by 5:00. ETA: I forgot. One dude had RRA LPKs for $80. He was in the back row, and they came in plastic bags. |
|
One thing's for sure- if you're looking for a complete upper, go. There was a metric asston of them, including some SBRs.
I got some pmags (the vendor who sells magpul stuff in the back by clips r us has the new version) and a buffer from Tony's. I was also looking for some 00 buck but couldn't find any. |

It is quite literally the real-world version if the video games where your kills would leave prizes for you. Man what an awesome sight though... Not "Braaaiiinnnssss" but "Heeeaaavvvvyyy!". "Traaaaade off!". "Yooouuuurrrr tuuuuurrrrnnnn!" _MaH Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Really looking for some 5.45x39...anyone happen run across any today? Not sure its worth the $12 to go find out! Center left in the back.. Guy/wife had several cases/cans still if I remember correctly at 7:50 tonight. Don't recall the price other than it was a lot cheaper than 5.56 and 7.62x39.. |
|
I wished I'd saved the $12, and stayed home for this one.
I couldn't resist the urge to go hunt for an upper for my build. I should have. Pricing up, people running around like headless chickens, cats and dogs living together...I did see several Doublestar complete uppers, with the DSC rail systems, for a mere $585! Only $120 more if you wanted the BCG for it...sigh...I guess I'll be ordering from the 'net and waiting now...I think I'm giving up on the 'nations guns show'...for good. If anyone needs any Powder, it's there. No Varget, but plenty of IMR 4895, and 4831. I think some 8lb. Reloader, and Unique as well. Forget about Large + Small rifle primers...I looked, and didn't see any. There were about 1000 Sierra HPBT 69 gr. , and several boxes of Hornady, lots of 6mm stuff. Anyone looking for the LWRC M6 either in upper only, or complete rifle, there were quite a few of those available, as of about 3PM today... Unless you need any of that stuff, or lots of Crapco, UTG, Leapers, and NCStar, stay home. I was lucky enough to grab a case of Beef Jerky, some really cool geode crystal thingies to display next to my preserved tarantula collection, and petrified trilobytes, and several Sham-Wows...

dcfireman,
You did not look hard enough for the rifle primers, a small vendor in the corner (far right of the convention center) proudly boasted he had the only small primers "in stock", the price was $137 for 1000. I do not reload, but I have a feeling that is an insane price. As of about 1 p.m. Saturday, very few round of .223 bulk ammo left, mostly Brown Bear (about $400 a case - stuff Palmetto had it few weeks back for around $300), and some various brass odd and ends for around .50 cents a round
There were dozens of new LWRC M6A2 rifles there, but asking prices were insane - $2300 to over $2500! A large vendor has these available now for $2121, free shipping and no tax, I hope no one payed the show prices, that will just incourage more of the high prices. |

Yes $137 a 1000 is highway robery. The last case (5000) of Wolf SR primers I picked up was around $100. Last show I picked up some Small rifle primers for $32 / 1000 All in all it was a decent show, as long as you were not interested in AKs , ARs , and common ammo. I picked up a few Beretta 92 Mags for $12 each MSAR AR15 (Styer AUG looking) magazine for $25 and a few boxes to put my .50 Beowulf reloads in. I saw a cool open top single action .38 spl cowboy gun that I had not seen outside of a catalog that was priced well , thought about buying it. There was a CZ Scout NIB for $300. Some good prices on Privi 6.5 Carcano and .303 Brit. I head a few good nuggets from dealers , like the Astra 400 he was selling was chambered in 9mm Largo, but would shoot 9mm Mak , or .380 (a headspace disaster waiting to happen) , and another deal tell me that Privi ammo sucked because it blew up his friends AK

I read over on Md Shooters that apparently attendees noticed folks walking around writing down license plate numbers and snapping pics of vehicles? anyone personally witness this?
Wasn't able to make this show, but I've been to lots of shows and don't think I've ever seen folks walking around gathering that type of info, not unusual in this climate but figured I'd ask if anyone had the skinny on this? |

Hmm... that disturbs me a little. I went to the NRA range today... there was a little white car right in the middle of the turn in to the building. It was just sitting there - a man and a woman were in it. It struck me as odd, so as I turned to the left to go to the range I looked i my rear view mirror and was fairly certain that I saw the driver taking a picture in my general direction. It bothered me, but I didn't get too wrapped up about it since I figured my "tin foil hat was too tight". But coupled with that report above..... It just wasn't right. A car sitting right there in the middle of the turn in from the street doing absolutely nothing... and then appearing to take a pic as I passed by. |

Sounds like you should report them to the police - sounds like suspicious activity to me Worse case it that you'll out some anti's up to something.

And it's too late to call anyone about it now - I didn't get plates or anything. And in all honesty, they weren't doing anything that anyone can arrest them or stop them from doing. There's nothing illegal about taking pictures even if it was for a sinister purpose. |

I cant tell you what you saw, however that is a private organization and a private parking lot, so it IS ILLEGAL, they may not be arrested but NRA would definately ask them to leave. |
| I bought a 20 ga semi-auto for my son to shoot skeet with today. It was a decent price....I guess I'll see next weekend if I got what I paid for. I was shocked at how much parking was available at 1:00 on a Sunday. In the show, the aisles were pleasantly passable for the most part |

CCI 400 (Small rifle) primers usually price out at $30/1000. Their availability has been somewhat scarce lately, like most everything else of interest. Bullets are difficult, but not impossible to find. Powder is still available, but you may find yourself occasionally using something other than what you'd normally like to be using... $137 for a case of 1000, makes me hope he had to reload every single case back into his truck and cart them back to what ever rock he crawled out from under. |

Yeah $12 to get in the door..the last time I go...besides I can get 99.9% of the stuff on line cheaper and don't have to deal with the idoits. Dealing with idiots is indeed frustrating. Observing them, however... If they would just provide a set of community ballpark style aluminum bleachers to the side in the building, I'd sit top row center all day with a bag of popcorn. "$2,000 for an Olympic Arms! We're letting this go at a steal!" "Next to crack cocaine, the Ruger 10/22 is the finest killing machine ever produced by the CIA." "Hollow-points are great for home defense, because their expansion keeps them from going through drywall, so you don't have to worry about hitting a family member." "Shotguns are great for defense because you just have to rack the action and they'll crap themselves right there. If that don't work, you don't even need to aim - just point it in the general direction and pull the trigger!" "The gun IS brand new. They send it from the factory like that so it looks rugged." "9mm? What're ya shooting - mice?? That won't stop a person!" "The satin nickel finish reduces holster friction, making for a faster draw." "Glocks? HK's? You mean 'Tactical Tupperware?'" "If it ain't Colt, it ain't gonna work." Oh there's all kinds of gems that would keep me entertained for hours. _MaH Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I love some of these replies!
So I went to the show Fri afternoon as soon as the opened and sure enough, everyone RAN to the ammo tables and the AR areas. People looked like complete idiots... The main ammo dude left and rear of center yelled at 1615 that they were completely out of 9mm! What was that, just over an hour? All in all, I walked away fairly happy with my Kahr PM45 and a host of other goodies... |
|
I was at the show on Friday and Saturday. I was with the first batch of people in on Friday and when I got to ammo guys from New Jersey (rear left of center) they already had more then 40 people there. I do not know how they beat me to them. After looking at the prices (they were the cheapest at the show) but the prices were insane. The American Eagle .45ACP 230 grain FMJ was $358/1000, ($40/1000 more than the February show & $80 more than the November show) the Speer Lawman 200 grain +P was $378/1000, the .40 S&W (150 grain, 165 grain and 180 grain) were $298/1000, .308 Federal 168 grain match was $468/500. Their credit card service was down (their provider server was down) yet they nearly sold out on Friday by people using cash. They incresed their ammo from last trip but only had about 6 cases of .308, 2 cases of .357 sig, 2 cases on Speer Lawman and a few cases of .40 S&W (150 & 165 grain) on Saturday morning. They left at 11:00 AM on Saturday.
The other ammo guys were just as busy and their prices were even higher. The guy just to the right and one row to the rear of the New Jersey Ammo guys raised his prices again during the show. He raised the Privi 62 grain M855 from $549/1000 on Friday to $600/1000 on Saturday. When I left on Saturday at about 4:00 PM he still had some cases of ammo. What surprised me was the ammo guy all the way to the left and near the rear pretty much sold out on Friday and his prices wer the highest in bulk. I never saw him sell out that fast. Certain other vendiors were selling individual boxes at about 30-40% more than the bulk ammo vendors. Examples incliude .40 S&W FMJ American Eagle at $29.95 for a box of 50. On Friday most of the people concentrated on purchasing ammo and some ARs/AKs. On Saturday with most of the amoo gone more people seemed to be buying firearms. The AR prices wer at least $200 overpriced, with some overpriced by $600. I just noticed that the next Chantilly show will use both of the Expo buildings. This is what is on their web site "The July 2009 Nation’s Gun Show or Nation’s Militaria and Arms Show admission purchase to either show gets you into BOTH SHOWS! Tickets can be purchased at either building. Two great shows for the price of one!". The will have 1800 tables offered in July. The Militaria and Arms will probably be in the smaller building. |
