Just moved to VA!

It's nice to live in a no-ban state.  I hope I don't go too crazy at the gun stores now that there's so many more choices for me!

ETA: What's the nearest good stores to the Arlington area?

Welcome!
Where did you come from?
The best gun store isn't anywhere near Arlington.
Virginia Arms is in Manassass but is well worth the drive.

Check out http://www.vcdl.org when you get a chance.
They are the best gun rights organization in the commonwealth and kick ass down in Richmond on a  regular basis.

Hey Man,

Even though you moved to the Phough "Old Virginie" welcome. I hope you buy more guns then you can carry and shot the hell out of them whilst you are here.

I came from CT.

So far the weather is much nicer and people are much more polite and friendly.

I'm seriously scared to go in a good gun store now... I'm going to go crazy because of all the things I couldn't buy but now can!

No more cast olympic lowers so that I can be legit now.....

Congrats! You can even own nasty stuff like AR's with giggle switches, suppressors, etc now.

Well, Arlington might make that tough, but it's slightly more of an option now.  Welcome to Virginia!

Why is Arlington tough?  It's still VA, right?  Or is there something I'm missing.

I could own suppressors in CT as well.  And we could own machine guns in CT as long as they were only full auto.  They had to go safe ––> full auto, and that's it.  Yeah, stupid.

Doesn't really matter - I can't afford a machine gun.

The sheriffs of Arlington and Alexandria are very unwilling to sign off on such goodies.  You can go the trust route (as I understand), but you are not likely to get the CLEO to sign off on anything.  It is Virginia, but in name only.  NOVA politics differ very greatly from most of the rest of VA.

Gotcha.

But as far as carry - I'm good to go in NoVa with a FL permit for now... and later a VA permit, right?  Nothing special about NoVa in terms of that (with respect to the rest of VA), right?

Not that I'm aware of.  Good to know there's another one fighting the good fight up there, and again, welcome to VA.

What part of CT?  I moved from there in 2001 and have barely been back.  I don't know if you'll find a store with as much as Hoffman's has, but VA Arms is nice and Stonewall Arms in Winchester was good to me too.  Guns and Ammo Warehouse in Manassas made it super easy for me to get a Colt XSE from the net too....

and you get to shoot at the NRA Range in Fairfax.

Welcome.

Well, at least you have the right kind of gun.

Well, I went to Virginia Arms yesterday.  As one poster above noted, Hoffman's in CT is better.  Better selection and better prices in CT from what I can see.  The staff was very friendly though and the place was nice and clean.  Is this really the best that VA has to offer???

Where can I get some really cool ARs like 6920s, Noveskes, and LWRCs?  I'm living in a non-ban state now dammit!

At the moment, you can't really get any cool AR's anywhere in the region unless you happen to be lucky and be in the store shortly after the rifles come in.  Virginia Arms used to have a large selection of AR's but they have pretty much been stripped clean since the election.  Gray Ghost Tactical in Culpeper had a LWRC for awhile but that too sold.

Welcome to the Commonwealth of VA!
See ya at the next gun show.  If you're in NoVA, that means April.
