So who else gets to burn a vacation day because their kid's school district (Loudoun for me) decided to have Jan. 20th as a holiday?

Personally, I'd love it if we had 12+ inches of snow that day. So you want 12" of the white stuff, you racist. I'm down with the multicultural thing and don't mind miscegenated snow-it can be tainted with VA red dirt or WV coal dust.  Adding my support for the yellow variety to arrive on DC that day.

<––- has a kid in a private school, whose CEO is a very vocal Republican. I'm taking the munchkin to Richmond on 1/19 for VCDL lobby day, then back to school on 1/20. Screw Obama and the national sploogefest going on over his installation.
Unfortunately, she's going to kindergarten next fall.

Inauguration Day is always a holiday for Federal employees in the National Capital Region because of the disruption it causes to commuter transportation in the Washington metro area, and so all us Feds can go and adore the new Fearless Leader du jour, no matter who it is. jarheadgrunt27: C'mon, now, aren't those crocodile tears you're crying as you're earning holiday pay on the WG, GS, or AD schedule??? Although, as I think about it, I can't say that a whole day of Obamamania could be compensated by only twice my normal pay rate. I basically told my boss that Emergency-Essential or not, my 11th anniversary took precedence over his NSSE, so fortunately, I'll be tucked away in a B&B in the mountains on Bonk2029's side of the state, hoping for a foot or two of snow... I may just have to go buy a gun as a matter of principle. |
