Long lines...got to the Haymarket Museum about 5:30 (opened at 5pm) and punched my ballot on the screen at 7:49pm. Long ass line outside...was a bit chilly.
Talked to about 10 or 15 people around me who all said they were voting for McCain. Who knows, maybe it well be closer than we fear! |

This was my first time voting. I know I should have since 93. My mom and dad both voted my dad's first time and my mom's second time. We all voted McCain.
I do have to say my mom saw Obama on Oprah and had me watch the interview and said he seems like a nice man my first words where I dont think so. She over the course of this campain see's evil in his eyes. I really think its going to be a messy election and may just end up in court. |

This was my first time voting. Glad you made it out. Don't forget to come out again next year for state elections and in two years for Congress and Senate elections. Even if McCain wins, we'll still probably have to deal with a House and Senate that are decidedly anti-gun and pro Socialist. And the way McCain trips over himself to be "bi-partisan," we may end up with a lot of crap that we don't like anyway. |

I had a stroke at age 29 and I couldnt even remember my own name. I should have voted since 1993 and I see now why and how much it really does matter. I will be out for the other elections and doing my home work. |
| I just voted in Stafford today. There were about 20 people in line, but it moved quickly. The ladies operating the office (4) were running a tight ship - fill out the paperwork while in line, sign it when the voting official comes by, verify your ID, select either touch screen or paper ballot, vote, then your were done. I was #1338 for a paper ballot, and the lady told me there were more people voting touch than paper. Ladies also told me the pace was picking up - 300 or so Thursday and they expected 500+ today. Big surprise is they are open tomorrow 9-5, so the wife an daughter are going down to cast their votes also. Daughter's first time voting and she's pretty proud to be participating in our democracy! Can't say how Stafford will go, but there's a large military population here (active and retired) that may tip the county solidly towards McCain. |

I vote in Vienna every election day (since 2000 when I was 20) in the evening and I have never had to wait more than 2 minutes to get into the voting booth. Just kinda surprised to hear all this about 35-45 minutes+. Me, too, since 1972, but I go at 6AM. |
| Wife and I went and voted today at the Stafford County Admin Bldg near the courthouse. Had to wait in line for about 50 minutes before we could get in. According to the poll workers it was like that for most of the day. Overheard a guy who had been by about 0900 that the line was even longer then. Sure hope that most of them are voting for Palin. |

Glad to see you back in the game. If you really want to see the system in action, come down to Richmond with us in January when we (VCDL members and other concerned citizens) go to the capitol to lobby for better gun laws. We had over 400 folks there last year and are shooting for 1000 this time. I voted in Woodbridge two weeks ago and the line was an hour long then. Felt good being able to vote with my Sig on my hip, too. |
| Well on election day they are fully setup and ready to go. Obama is pushing for early voting(before anything else can be found out about him) in big cities at very limited numbers of locations. The system was not supposed to be flooded with people, hence the long lines versus E-day when all the polling locations are open with multiple machines. |

Sure hope that most of them are voting for Palin. Man, I can feel the energy and positive vibes from this thread! No early voting for me, though. I'll be amongst the masses Tuesday morning. +1 My polling location opens @0600. Wife and I will be there @0500.

Arrived at polling place at 5:15. About 30th in line. Doors opened at 6am and after a clusterfuck, paper or electronic.. and messed up tables etc... I was out of there at 6:13.
There must have been 300 people in line when I left. Driving through Springfield, I noticed the school across from Springfield plaza and there must have been 400-500 people in line there. Anyone know the best web site to track local polls by county? I remember using something 4 years ago and you could see detailed info by each polling place. |

They wouldn't let my dog vote ... just as well, he's a libertarian. I've got a bad feeling about this one. My little section of Richmond seems pretty conservative, and for the first time ever there was a obama supporter outside of the entrance, like a 97 yearold black gentleman. I was fuming a bit earlier, someone from our church had car problems and asked my wife for a ride. I get there and see them in line, they are holding that DemocRATic sample ballot ... I told the wife to let them walk home in the rain! But she said they were likely just confused picking that ballot up, they were spewing pro Palin stuff
But, to be clear, I'm not as much a McCain supporter as I am anti Socialist. ETA, left house and was back in 45 minutes, likely spent 20 minutes in line. I have NO DOUBT that those who get there later will be too late. I don't know if they'll enforce the 7pm close of the polls, or if they'll just close the doors at 7pm and allow the crowds to work thru? They advertised around here that anyone standing in line by 7pm would be allowed to vote. |
| I got to the polling location at 0605 and there were over 300 people in line! Only took 25 min to get to vote. Location: aprox. 50 miles west of N.Va. Had a young man behind me who was voteing for the 1st time (18) I thanked him and he said,"guys died so I could do this". There is hope for our future. |

I just got back.
3 hours and 42 minutes in line. ... No, I'm not kidding. My wife had to work and she called to asked how it went. After hearing about the almost 4 hours in the rain, she decided it wasn't worth it for her to swing by after she got off. - I didn't argue with her since she would just vote for the Other guy anyway... So that's two vote swing from my house... |
|
i just voted in under 10 minutes. my polling place is across the street from my parents house, so since im staying with them this week anyways (waiting on my new apartment turnaround period) i just waited till there was no line
Midlothian area too... so it's not exactly sparsely populated |
| It took myself and my wife two hours to get through the polls in Norfolk this morning. We were in totally occupied territory here. There wasn't a republican sign to be seen and nobody there working for the campaign. It is a sickening thing. I just hate it when I vote and there are no other choices for voting but a D hack for congress. At least this year I had a Presidential and Sentate race to vote FOR. |

McCain 55%
Obama 44% So far according to Foxnews. Interactive map link. |

Voted at 0715 this morning with the little one in tow. Five minutes, in and out.
Took my wife in when she got home from work 6-ish, same deal. Oh, and if I may brag about how cool of a boss I am, I set the following rules for the nine LEO's who work for me: Those who live more than a mile or two outside the city: go before work, I didn't dock them time if they were late in (within reason, they all got in before 0900). Those who live in the city or within eye sight of the boundary: sneak over and vote as the work load allows. I'm pretty sure that was nine McCain votes. |

Chesterfield County. It would've taken me about 5 minutes if I knew what I was doing. Since the time I walked into the door of the school, went to the line with my last name and gave my voter registration and got my ballot and voted it took me 10 minutes. Even asked a question. I'm glad that I got to vote.
3 hours though...Holy shit. |
