I heard about this site on the radio yesterday so I checked it out and thought it was worth sharing here (it's free btw). www.criminalsearches.com/neighborhood/default.aspx You just enter in your home address or any address and it identifies anybody that has been convicted or found guilty near that address. It also lists the details of the conviction if you click on the icon. There's apparently a lot of people in my neighborhood convicted of speeding but nothing of concern which is good. Enjoy! Hokie |

I'm not sure how reliable that search actually is. My impression is that it's oriented toward baiting you to buy the "background check" that's part of the detail. In my neighborhood, it found two traffic violators. For one of those two, it caught two minor traffic violations, but failed to indicate that the violator is also a registered sex offender. ![]() I think I'll stick with NCIC and III for those times when I really need to know. |

Sounds as about as wonderful as having the names and addresses of concealed carry permit owners online.... It's not very accurate. It's missed multiple sex offense convictions near me, and missed multiple traffic offenses too. --- and if you found problems,? then what? you can't do anything about it, other than worry, and potentially harass those people (or indirectly harass them by spreading the gossip amongst your neighbors under guise of being helpful . . .)

A many tickets as I have wrote for people around my area, they were not listed. It is for entertainment purposes only as others have suggested. Not very accurate. One thing that I did notice was all the offenders in my area were convicted in North Carolina and there was no Virginia offenses listed. Intersting.... |

Most of the 'criminals' that showed up had a "O" for other. Some had Mu for multiple crimes and a few had T for theft. I also saw on there were it says some states show traffic offenses. It was entertaining. Especially when I put in my childhood address and saw a few names that I remember from back then. |

Some obvious flaws in this. I put in my address and the map pointed to an area on the street (with my address) that I live the was 2 blocks off. And yes there was a lady with several convictions. And no, there's never been anyone else but me in the house. Yeah, it's a top notch web site.
