While catching up on my local news, I was surprised to learn that my county has a service you can sign up for that will notify you electronically of local emergencies. I would assume that other localities do too.

I've been on the Fairfax list for a while. Still get some email alerts, but removed myself from the cell-phone list. Way too many txt msgs... was adding needless cost to my bill. It's a great system! I just wish that there was a way to specifically choose what type of alerts you receive. Right now there are a couple choices, but I'd prefer something a little more specific. For email it's not a problem... but for cell phone, I'd love to retain the disaster/terrorism alert, whilst skipping all of the wind advisories and road closures. https://166.94.9.135/cean/ |
