Anybody listening around 0740 this morning? They were talking about college students carrying firearms and making jokes about it. I had to change the station. |
Must have missed that one. What was the context of the comments? EITM came to BRA over a year ago for their Beef, Bullets, Beer and Butts promo, but it doesn't seem like it's going to happen again this year. I even remember them talking about it - the fun they had. I remember Diane saying she liked "the silver one" (which only narrowed it down to about 4 or 5 different guns). Depending on what they said, it would be kind of surprising to me for them to be such hypocrites... _MaH |
| Diane was saying that she didn't think they should have guns in schools and Eliot started by saying they should and then went on to say in a condescending tone (at least that's how it sounded to me) that they should have guns in high schools too. I could be wrong but it didn't sound like a pro-gun conversation. I remember them talking about the Beef, Bullets, Beer and Butts promo and I was impressed. |
DC-101 seems to reflect the attitude of about 95% of the gun owners in the US. Most are OK with owning a gun - even a handgun - but they are too meek to ever think about getting their concealed carry permit - let alone carrying or learning to effectively use the gun they carry to defend themselves. Just look at the low numbers of owners who shoot IDPA, USPSA, or take any sort of training class. DC 101 types just think its cool to go to the range once a year and "shoot off some big guns!" - in other words: -they have a very shallow understanding of guns, gun ownership rights, or the 2nd Amendment. Arfcom members & gun store owners are the exception. When it comes to our RIGHTS - they "get it." The rest of the world would just cringe at our arguments about the need for concealed carry on campus and how that would have prevented or more quickly ended the VT tragedy. |
| I heard the beginning part but my drive to work has some dead spots on the radio. I heard Elliot say that every 18 year old should be able to carry. He sounded sarcastic to me. I was hoping that during the black out part of my ride in that they had stopped joking about it and had a better conversation.... I guess i was wrong. |
I fucking hate elliot. They are just a bunch of dc faggots anyway. Diane sounds like a smart lady but I can't stand the rest of the peolpe on that show in the morning. Elliot isnt funny and they never talk about anything interesting. Fuck dc101. They play all of the lame rock that sucked in 1996 when it all came out. Rant over. |
hahaaa, don't hold back man.......let us know how you really feel! Seriously tho, I have heard that from a lot of people who hate that show, I think it's funny sometimes and sometimes I listen to 98 Rock. |
|
i only caught the tail end of the conversation when some idiot called in and said that in order for the people at GMU to have permits they would have to be over 21...but that he would be fine with them being 18 and over...or maybe even 16.... Thats when Elliot when on his dumbass sarcastic, idiotic shit about giving guns to high schoolers, etc.... I tried to call in to set him straight, but was cut off by Kyle (who is an idiotic toolbag in and of himself) who said they had spent too much time and were moving on.... After the VA Tech incident when the GMU folks petitioned to get students to be allowed to carry Elliot said some dumbass stuff about this as well.. The long and short of it is he doesnt think an 8 hour class is enough to be able to CCW....he doesnt have an alternative...but, yes, he is totally being sarcastic... He thinks guns are great....he does NOT support the GMU CCW....just my 2 cents.... |
I won't lie. I listened to it almost every morning for two years because it is either that or john boy and billy or star and buc wild. And my drive to work was short. If he was talking about sports then I would just ride in silence. I fucking hate talk radio. |
| Jesus Christ, not everything is an ASSAULT ON MAH RIGHTS....it's an entertaining radio show, and that's what it's there for. To be entertaining. If you aren't amused, turn the dial. Some of you guys sound like you're the same people who would be mad at Elliot for using his very public job to speak sarcastically about guns, but would also say that celebrities aren't worth listening to because they're inconsequential entertainers. Which is it? |
| The problem is that many of the sheeple get their education on the issues of the day from the same place that they get their entertainment. Couple that with the sheeples' abundant lack of critical thinking skills, lack of understanding of the concept of civil liberties and the founding documents of the nation, and we have a problem. |
Usually I stop reading a post when I see the word "sheeple", but whatever. Do you really think that Elliot in the Morning changes peoples minds about constitutional rights? Or, do you think that someone who gets their political opinions from Elliot will ever matter in the slightest as far as United States firearms policy is concerned? |
I am not so sure that Hippo is that far off the mark. Anyone remember the poll that showed most US college students get most of their "news" and information on politics & the world from the John Stewart cable Comedy show than all of the news networks combined? -and those are the intelligent ones that made it to college. Where would you suppose the rest of the people pick up their info? Seeing where this country is headed, I am not that willing to give the general public much credit for common sense or getting their facts right. |
|
Their vote counts just as much as yours, no? |
Well thank you for articulating your distrust of the general public. The word "sheeple" just reeks of internet bullshit. Obviously misinformation isn't a good thing, but it's quite a stretch to suggest that EITM is anything but entertainment. Some people don't seem to realize that you don't have to scrutinize every single mention of guns in the media. |
When was the last time the general public voted on firearms policy? |
Amen. TR |
Que? The Congress (you know, the bi-cameral legislative branch of our federal government) and the President (the chief of the exceutive branch of our federal government) are the ones who pass legislation into law, not the voters (representative republc, and all that you know). However, the voters put them in office (supposedly, according to some). Like I said, their vote counts just as much as yours, right? |
I think it's kind of a stretch to say we're talking about what can and can't be said on the radio. I know it's a comedy show and believe it or not I mostly think those guys are funny. I had a bigger problem with the douche bag that called in supposedly on our side making bogus statements. Don't you ever get tired of having to explain the legalities of carrying a firearm to people? Wouldn't it be great if everyone already knew the laws? If they did and they realized that thousands of people carry in VA every day without incident then perhaps they would realize how stupid some of the gun laws are. I don't think that EITM is anti gun and I don't think it's that big of a deal, just interesting. |
Thanks CBR, just for informational purposes, this is the text from EITM.com:
Again, I think it's a funny show and I listen to it every morning. I also don't think that they are making a political statement. My care-o-meter is back in the green now so I'll have to give this a one out of ten on my "Meh" scale. |

+1 for Sheeple. Think 04. Half of this country did not bother to vote and half of the rest voted for Lurch. 75% fit into "i am too damn lazy/stupid to go vote or I need a full time nanny". Yep, Baaaaaaaah. +1 on EITM sucking. I am surprised he is still on the air. He laugh makes my skin crawl. |
