Anyone in the Tidewater are cast their own?  I have some lead coming home to roost (mostly wheel weights) some molds and a melter.  Also have some ingots that have been cleaned and fluxed ready to go.  Looking for someone who may interested in getting together and cranking out some bullets.  I am interested in .357/.38 and of course 45ACP.  But if we are molding, we can cast anything; even fishing weights.

If someone has a propane fish fryer, I have a pot that can be used to prepare the lead, then move the cleaned and fluxed lead to the electric melter, flux again and cast bullets.

This is an outdoor activity.

Be careful with the wheel weights.   You want to make sure you throw out the zinc plated ones.   If you get them in your caste and you will have a bunch of lead that will only be good for sinkers.

I am not in the tidewater region yet (in between Richmond and Fredericksburg now) but I will be soon.  Maybe we could get together after I move.   I need to find a line on more wheel weights.   I have a line on tons of good musket lead but it needs antimony for good pistol bullets.   Might be good to mix 1/3of it to 2/3s of WWs since most WWs have too much antimony.

I caste Lyman moulds.   40 cal 155gn SWC, 357 155gn SWCGC and 45 cal 200gn SWC.    I also have moulds for others that I caste on occasion.

The only lead supply I have access to is the kind I take out of old house drain systems.  I don't imagine anyone wants to cast their bullets from toilet drains.  On the other hand my father in law has a stockpile of lynotype that he melts into bricks and sells.  Its some sort of harder lead alloy and he's been using it for reloading I'm not really sure if its any better.  My place is too small for me to have a reloading setup and I dont know much about the subject.

Linotype from printing presses?   If so IM me as I might like to get in on some of that action.    Mixing it with the lead I have access to would make some nice #2 hardball!!!

Linotype is good for making Rifle bullets at a higher velocity.   Crappy for pistol lead.   You can blend it with pure lead and get a great pistol mixture.

yes, it's the linotype as in printing presses.  My father in law sells it.  He uses it in some of his rifles.  I'll have to call him about it.

Great just let me know the gritty details.
