I hope I'm correct in assuming you mean a Colt AR-15 in 7.62x39... The mags Colt shipped with the rifles were nothing more than a standard straight 20 round magazine with a slightly different follower. On a good day, they'll feed 5 to 7 rounds reliably. Like the Colt mags, any old 5.56/.223 mag will feed a few rounds. The old Frankenmags (AK bottom welded to an AR tower) are pretty much long gone. The ones that did work (and I have a few) are great and are usually not found for sale. I have a few that look very much like a standard 30 round AR mag (made by USA Brand (I think)) that acutally work fairly well but again they're out of production. Everyone is waiting for C Products to release their second attempt at this mag. The first generation were supposed to be out last February and finally shipped in July. Unfortunately, their attempt was not up to the challenge. They pulled the old ones and went back to the drawing board. New ones are due out soon so cross your fingers. |
