SO Ive been waiting on payment for a gun Im selling...I wrote the guy tonight to tell him I had not received anything..he writes me back Fedex left it at my door 10am Thursday...

So I call...nope they didnt wring the doorbell, nope didnt try to get a signature...

Did you happen to notice that the entire area has been under a high wind warning? I inquire dubiously...

Hrmmm..well you will need to call back to file a claim...

The thing that freaking kills me is I WAS F*#&U$(CKING HOME....my kid's school had been cancelled...had he wrung the doorbell or knocked, i was right here...he could have handed me the freaking thing....

does anyone know what they will do about this?  I am getting in touch with my buyer...I know he used some form of certified funds, but damn it takes forever to do claims through the USPS for lost PMO...

I put on my boots and grabbed a flashlight, but this was over 24 hours ago....this thing is GONE.....

I need to go to bed but I am soooo mad right now....soooo  dammmnnn madddd.....

These dimwits never knock on the door. Just leave the package on the porch & haul ass. Even had a couple of packages with guns that required adult signature. And UPS is no better. At least Fed Ex's packages arn't torn all to hell like the ones that come UPS.

UPDATE:  SO...i went out this morning in the sunlight and found the damn envelope trapped in the ice down by the lake near my house...what a bunch of freaking morons....

I never use UPS or FED-EX for the very reason you stated. I just use the good old US Postal Service. As far as I am concerned they provide a better service in the lower 48 states. I Ebay and EE a lot and I have never had any problems. The only advantage I can see with the others is better package tracking. I have shipped firearms several times with the USPS with no problems at all. The prices UPS and FED-EX charge is outrageious for no better of a service than they provide. USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation and enough insurance to cover loss is the way to go. Just add cetified delivery to it and it WILL get a singuiture or go back to the nearest PO to await pick-up.

Yeah that is a good point: it is OBVIOUS that "1srelluc" has an FFL or was only shipping long guns/pre-1898s. Otherwise he may have comitted a federal felony and just admitted it on a public internet forum. The point about handguns can't be ignored and everyone should be clear about how they can lawfully be sent interstate.

http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/index.htm

"(B7) May a nonlicensee ship a firearm through the U.S. Postal Service?[Back]

A nonlicensee may not transfer a firearm to a non-licensed resident of another State. A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. The Postal Service recommends that long guns be sent by registered mail and that no marking of any kind which would indicate the nature of the contents be placed on the outside of any parcel containing firearms. Handguns are not mailable. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun.

[18 U.S.C. 1715, 922(a)(3), 922(a)(5) and 922 (a)(2)(A)]

(B8) May a nonlicensee ship a firearm by common or contract carrier? [Back]

A nonlicensee may ship a firearm by a common or contract carrier to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun. In addition, Federal law requires that the carrier be notified that the shipment contains a firearm and prohibits common or contract carriers from requiring or causing any label to be placed on any package indicating that it contains a firearm.

[18 U.S.C. 922(a)(2)(A), 922(a) (3), 922(a)(5) and 922(e), 27 CFR 478.31 and 478.30]

Unless anyone reading this has an FFL, make sure you ignore  "1srelluc" 's advice when it comes to handguns and stick to a common carrier (subject to certain exceptions).

Nooooo,  I do not ship or did I say that I ship handguns by USPS. I stated firearms. I use a FFL for handgun shipment if you must know. Please refrain from stateing that I may be commiting a felony. I find the statement slanderious. I should have been more precise however in specifing longguns instead of firearms but I was stating what shipping method worked best for me. The orgional poster was not receiving a weapon just a envelope.
