I think you're right.  Maybe something to do with losing GotM4, Grant, and a few others?

It also seems like we have three very distinct areas(Nova, richmond area, sw area). Each of these groups does things individually from eachother.

I spend some time in the NC forum cause my best friend just moved down there, and it seems like they all get together more and from one of the campouts there it seems like they all know more about eachother too.

In that case, let's all get together, form a militia, and invade Hampton Roads.  Could be fun!  have

Of course, we'd have to continue on down to Nags Head since it's nothing but a VA extension anyway.  We'd just make it official.  I'd like to be the Military Governor of Hatteras Island, please.

yeah good call for hurricane season.  don't worry i will be ready to assume command of the rubble.

Dport is gone too.   Last time I talked to him he was on hiatus from M4 also.   Shame this B.S. has sucked some good folks out of the VA HTF.

I think the forum is going to pick up significantly this fall. There are 3 big events coming, Blast Fest II south of Richmond, the Appleseed Shoot, and the VA Campout (check the Survival Forum).

There should be lots of discussion and pictures from these events, enough to keep going through the holidays.

Additionally, consider going to one of the Virginia training sessions organized by VA Dinger. He has 2 courses that are currently full in Oct and Dec, but he has an AK course currently filling for 2007. These are great courses with top instructors.

AK course?  Hadn't heard that.  Can somebody point me at some info?  Next year not so good for me, but if it lines up right I'm game.

Back on topic - yes, it seems to have slowed down.  I think we all have some ideas about that.  Me, I mostly just lurk here, but it always seemed like a pretty good group.  I found out about both VA Arms and QA here, wound up with a nice little zombie killer from Tom Sawyer that all my friends drool over, found some good training, and got turned onto what look like some good places where I will start shooting IDPA in the next couple weeks.  So I hope it doesn't stay this slow in here.

I haven't posted much this year, especially in hometown.  What happened to all those people named that left?  Pissed? Cheated? Lil' Bitches?

We had a pretty good turnout for the Hite Hollow shoot back in July (better than I expected considering the heat and that people are on Vacation).

Also don't forget that Silentbushmaster is having a supressor only shoot in Wytheville in October.

That aside the Hometown forum is what YOU make of it.  Think it has become inactive?  Become pro-active!  Setting around complaining that some of the members have left isn't going to make the site better.  We lost a few people but the site does not revolve around them.  Get out, attend shoots, host shoots or other social get-togethers.

All it would take is an additional 10% of all of the Virginia members to make this the best Hometown Forum on the board.  There are A LOT of members here who do things behind the scenes to contribute, whether it be fixing someone's malfunctional firearm or helping out another member in need.  Dozens of other members meet monthly at a variety of shooting ranges without posting about it (mostly because when we do the same 3 people show up).  Highwayman is working his ass off to make Blastfest possible.  I know that there are plenty of members within a 2 hour drive from the site that could help out.  This is one of those oppurtunities to make a difference and help out!  It makes no difference if you have been here for 5 years and have 20,000 posts or been here for a few months and have a 100.  Be active and make yourself known!  We have about 4-6 shoots/socials/campouts a year out of 883 members only about 3-5% show up........IMHO this is what the Hometown forum is about and so very few take advantage of it.

The Virginia HTF is great, but it could be a lot better if individuals step up and help make the most of it.

Can I be a little bitch boy because it's that time of month and I ain't got no tampons?
Yeah, I asked for some help for highwayman and got only one or two offers to help him. Because of my medical leave due to a hurt leg, I won't be of much use to him. I will say this for hwm: he's a lot nicer and mild mannered than I am, I would have said "F it!" by now if I couldn't get any help with all that work he's got to do.

So, don't be a little bitch and gripe about Virginia unless you do/will do/have done stuff to help others because you haven't earned that right!

Who's bitiching?

Just trying to spark a little debate or dialog and it worked.  Seems not everyone can read between the lines of my openning post.  It has nothing to do with individuals or other boards, it has to do with memories of a once active and friendly community.

Oh well, I guess I've outgrown this sandbox, thanks for reminding me.

Steve, maybe we both misundestand each other. Please note in my bitch post I said: "unless you do/have done/will do..." I should have made it clear that I was speaking to those who do not pitch in when they can. Obviously, you are not of them. I am sorry you did not understand me, it was my fault. Please do not beat me up at VBF II!

I hear what you're saying RV, but I'll also point out this "nobody will come help me support the BlastFest" thing is being a bit overplayed when you ask for help on a workday.  I really don't know if we'd have 50+ people lined up if it was a weekend, but you have to also admit that it has a lot to do with it.  I know I'd be there chainsaw in hand if it was a time I didn't have to work (in spite of the fact I just moved, haven't unpacked yet and have a "honey do" list 2 miles long).  No - I'm not taking anything you're saying personally.   I just see the beginnings of a bitter old guy sitting on his porch mumbling about how nobody loves him in your posts....

But of course I did!   You can't spend three days wiring a tractor/skeet/lawnmower/office shed with a guy and then forget about him.   I need to give John a yell and see if they are still on for finishing up that project next weekend.   I have to go home so I figured maybe he could meet me out there next week and I could at least locate all of his burried wires.

Been out to the range much?   I have been keeping it pretty hot.   Got another trip planned some time this weekend to sight in a couple of ARs and finish off some bowling pins.   Been working over my plate from Nevcco targets too.    You going to be around this weekend?

I was out there on Monday. It was rather busy. I was thinking about a trip this weekend as well. As long as the weather holds.

I went to the last work day and got stuck on concrete detail for the trap house, and I noticed on the last newsletter we still didn't get work credit for the shed.
9/6/2006 5:17:34 PM EDT
[#29]
I sent an email to John already about the cable location.   When he replys back I will remind him about the work credit for both of us.    I did not go Monday as I figured the range would be nasty from all of the rain.   Bet that creek was running full.
