Hey guys, I'm having a little trouble getting into a CCW class here in Morgan county. I'm near Berkeley Springs, and even though I have military experience, the sheriff wants me to take a CCW class before I can put in my application. There is only one course here, and it fills up with 6 people, and the next one isn't until fall. It's also too expensive. Is there one in VA or anywhere else in the Eastern panhandle that offers something? This is driving me nuts, and I could use some help. Thanks, 2IDdoc |

What type of class will meet the WV requirements? If you are really stuck between a rock and a hard place, I'll be teaching an NRA Basic Pistol class in June. The only problem is that I'm probably about 4hrs from you. If you think I can help you out, just let me know. |

You can talk with Mark at West Lance Training Center out of Jones, Springs, WV, and I also think that Sleepy creek Sporting Clays offers the class but I have no info. Any NRA Basic Pistol will work for ya. You can find West Lance in the Thread for local ranges here at the va/wv pins |
Jones springs isn't too far away, I didn't see how to contact him, but I'll try and figure it out. Sleepy Creek was a no go because they had all 6 slots full when I called, and they don't have another class until the fall. Also, the guy that runs Sleepy Creek(I can hear the range from my house) is a rather exclusive type, if ya' know what I mean. Only high dollar over and under shotguns for his sporting clays range kind of guy. I think I would have ended up punching him in the balls. He also wants $150 for a CCW class. That seems a little high.
Just has to be from an NRA instructor. Thanks for the offer, I'll put it in my hat, nice of you to give me an option.

Maybe it's just that I haven't finished my morning coffee, but who is Sparks? I get the feeling I should know this. There is a guy that used to be a deputy Sheriff that gives a class for $35, but the Sheriff's dept wouldn't give me any information about him. I had to pry it out of them that he ever gave courses. I have the ex-deputy's name, but it's unlisted. All the guys I know that took his course keep giving me lip service about how they'll help me get ahold of him. I'll call NRA monday if I can't find anything before then. Thanks guys. 2IDdoc |
