I live in Woodbridge and have only lived in VA since December.  I would like to join Quantico Shooting Club, but I don't meet the criteria and I don't know anyone who is already a member who could sponsor me.  If there are any members who would be willing to help me out, please IM me.

hey boss, i don't think you can be sponsored. you either have to be a fed civ or military to sign up right away or put your name on the civ waiting list (moves slowly but it does move). the waiting list website is: www.quanticoshootingclub.com/waitingList/signWaiting.asp

i think this guy is one of the club officers so he can give you the official dope on membership: [email protected]

Sometimes it takes months to get on, but once your on the list you're good to go.  Took me about 5 months.  They have to keep a ratio of 2 military to 1 civilian members, that's why there's a waiting list.

and don't let your membership lapse or you go to the bottom of the list!

I think I let mine lapse.    I never got a renewal.

Did you let yours lapse on purpose or accident?  Are there other clubs in the area that are "better" or what are your opinions?

I never got a renewal notice and didn't bother to do anything about it.  Maybe I should check except I never used the range.  No 50's no full auto and no supressors means me no shooting there.

Actually I did shoot there once but on range 4 with my 50.  They opened it up for one Sunday afternoon and I shot from 200 and 600 yards.

Are there any ranges in the area that meet your criteria?  Sounds like you have the fun stuff

IIRC all memberships renewals are due Jan 1st.  Range 4 was open Sunday, but I was busy shooting the IDPA classifier.

the best thing about quantico is the ranges; as you might expect, they're the best in the world. the worst thing about quantico is that you're at the mercy of the military. they DO take priority (go figure! :D ) and if you get a butthead co in there, he can jam up civ shooting pretty good...also, for rec fire you're restricted to what rso's volunteer. most of them work during the week so you're restricted to shooting on weekends for a few hours. and if no rso's volunteer, no shooting. the funny (well, not so funny) thing is that there are BUNCHES of folks who take the nra sponsored rso course through the shooting club but you almost NEVER see them volunteering their time...

oh well, i still think it's worth it and they do offer some AWESOME training courses...
