Hey all,
Thinking of getting an Eotech and was nosing around in the AR15/Optics subform and saw a very long thread on people returning Eotech's for refunds....anyone know what the deal is?  (EDIT) NM...i think i found the mother load in a few different threads....

This now applies even more...I Liked teh Eotech due to being able to have a good Holo and being able to seamlessly apply magnification when I wanted.
Should I be looking at something else?  I was looking at the HHS 1 or HHS 3.

Thx

I have Eotechs and I have Aimpoints.  I like my aimpoints much better than the Eotechs.

I'd  recommend an Aimpoint.

I have not had any problems with my 552 but I will probably going to either a Aimpoint Pro or Trijicon MRO next.

Thanks for the replies guys....

I gotta say, as I continue to look at other options I'm more and more disappointed about the issues with eotech.  I really like the layout of the Eo, the different reticles, and especially the sight view, it just seems more natural to me.  So far, I'm tending toward the Trijicon MRO....

I like the Trijicons too.  I don't know anything about the MRO, I'll have to look it up.

I was seeing several threads about people having issues with the mro. They probably fixed the issues by now but I'd look into them a little first op.

I have several different current optics - mostly due to wanting to try out the different options.

I currently have one Eotech (XPS2-0), 2 Aimpoints (PRO and T-1), a Trijicon MRO, and my newest one is a Vortex Viper PST 1-4 scope.

My MRO is about 6 months old, and is on a 10" SBR, and took the place of the Aimpoint T-1.  I think it's ugly, and a little bigger than I would have liked, but it's also faster and gives a wider field of view than the T-1, and seems to have most of the T-1's other qualities.  It's been on since I bought it, on the original battery.

The rifle that the scope is on was originally configured for longer distance shooting and I had a 4-12x on it.  I recently re-built the rifle, picked up a shorter barrel for it, and also decided to try a 1-4 scope.

I have to tell you that this might be my favorite optic of the bunch. Using it at a 1x setting, there is almost none of the "if I move my head, I lose focus" effect so common with scopes.  The field of view seems large, and the center of the reticle is illuminated and is crystal clear.  I always thought that there would be no way a scope could come anywhere near the overall speed of a non-magnified optic in terms of getting on target quickly.  I'd say I was dead wrong.  This thing is amazing.  There is a typical cross-hairs reticle for distance, and a bright red center dot with circle (almost identical to Eotech's) in the center (see pic below).  The nice thing with this is that it has the ability to "zoom in" for longer range shooting, whereas none of my other optics do.  It's also highly durable (probably not to the extent of the Aimpoints, but probably not far from it) and is also light weight.

Long story short - if you know anyone who has one of these, or you might have the time to check one out at your local gun shop / Cabela's, it's well worth the time.

I second this. Love my 2 CompM4s optics. 80,000 hours on a single AA battery is nice. That's 9.5 years.

I have had nothing but red dots through the years and just recently invested in a trijicon acog 4x32. Its pricey I know but it will outlast any rifle. I absolutely love it.

I regret selling my ACOG

If I ever get another I might consider the battery version, what Triji gets for tritium replacement is insane

I have an Eotech.  It works fine.  It is expensive.  There are a LOT of red dots that work as well for less money.  If you are going to shoot past 100 yards, think about a scope.
