So you have to be a FFL to ship a handgun with the USPS (legally) - otherwise it has to go next day air with UPS or similar.  But if I'm holding a valid C&R FFL, would that make me eligible to ship USPS?  I have a custom Springfield Armory XDM that I'm about to put up for sale and would love to not have to restrict my sale to local deals.

tag for answer.

When I have to ship a pistol I just have my FFL guy do it. He only charges me like $10+the shipping.

Nope, you have a collectors license, not a license to deal in firearms. Especially since you are not shipping a C&R gun

No handgun (C&R or not) via USPS w/ C&R FFL.  C&R rifle ok via USPS (2nd air only)

Any non NFA rifle may be sent USPS, and the 2nd day air is optional (recommended).  I've done this before (mailed to a FFL in another state) and had no issues with the USPS.

I did find a page on the USPS website that does answer my initial question above.  I didn't think this would be specifically outlined, but it is in 12.1.1
