I had a knee replaced in June and the physical therapy ended in August. The most beneficial part of therapy was riding the exercise bike as it really helped me gain range of motion. Now that therapy ended I want to start riding my bike so that I can stretch and exercise my new knee.
I have a Mongoose Dynametric hybrid bike that I bought in the early 90's. I already replaced the tires and tubes but I need a new seat and a few other accessories, like a bag that will hold my firearm. I bought some things at Performance Bicycle in Naperville but they don't have that great of selection. Do you know of any really good bike stores in the Chicago and suburban area? I would travel even farther than the suburbs. So what is your favorite bike store? |

There's a couple bike stores I know of in my (new) area...They appear to get good reviews. GlenEllyn cyclery on Roosevelt in Glen Ellyn.
http://www.glenellyncyclery.com and Midwest Cyclery on Front Street in Wheaton. I pass it all the time when I go to "downtown" Wheaton, as I live in Wheaton. http://www.midwestcyclery.com |

I was able to get a bolt I needed for the handlebars at Midwest. I didn't think I would find the exact bolt and was already thinking of ways to make modifications. On the way home I stopped at the Spokes in Naperville and was able to get everything else I needed. I don't know if the prices were good but I got my stuff. Tomorrow the old Mongoose will be road ready! |

http://jandrcycleandski.com/ Great folks, located in Villa Park on St. Charles Rd. Just moved into a brand new store. It's not too far from the others mentioned above, if you make the trip. I'm in that area at least every other week, I'll check them out. Thanks! |

Spokes, in Wheaton (in the Danada shopping plaza NE corner of Butterfield and Naperville roads). They carry higher end XC and road bikes such as Specialized and Giant. I hit the Spokes in Naperville. They had a lot of stuff. I don't know if the prices were good but it was a great store to look at things. I haven't been in a bike store in years so the prices on bikes at all the stores I went to were shocking. I know prices have gone up on everything but I didn't know they made such expensive bikes. There were some really cool bikes. Maybe after I ride my old Mogoose for a while I'll consider something new. |

Don't go to Mike's in the NW burbs (Palatine). They're posted as "no guns." Thanks, that's good info! I have to start paying more attention. I'm so used to carrying I don't even remember I'm armed. Today when I went to all the bike shops I didn't notice if they were posted but I didn't even look. I didn't even think about it until I read your post. Yes, I have to pay more attention. |

I only know this because I pass it all the time. I'm in the habit of checking for no gun signs everywhere, as they stand out like a sore thumb. |

I have to get in that habit too as I don't want to have any problems with the law. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. |
