I bought a 1911 off Gunbroker that has been shipped to my FFL guy who is listed on GB.
Now, 14 days later and the transfer has not been completed. I sent
my FFL an email asking to complete the transfer but no respons.
He has done 2 other transfers for me, both took longer than you'd expect, both came with the usual excuses ie. Working a lot, yada yada.
Each of those transfers were completed at a resturant so I don't know where he lives.
What can I do here?
Are there limits as to how long an FFL can sit on your property?
Where can I read up FFL guidlines?
At this point I am not gonna post the FFL's name but I will say he is from around the Beecher, Illinois area.

Thanks for your time

That kind of crap is PRECISELY why I became an FFL dealer.

Contact the Chicago field office and tell them about it:  http://www.atf.gov/field/chicago/index.html

Doing the transfers outside of his licensed premiss is against the law.

Oh, good point, I missed that.  Yeah, he can't do business other than the listed address on his FFL.

Wouldn't do business with that guy in the future.

There have been several "Recommend a good FFL" threads here, Don't know where you are in Illinoistan, but I'm certain you have better options available.

I'm thinking he doesn't want me to know where he lives so we do the paperwork at McDonalds and he charges only $15.
How long can he hang on to my gun?

Thanks

Call him and inform him that if he doesn't complete the transaction this week you'll be calling the ATF.  Then when he meets you somewhere, take a photo of the table and paperwork (you have to sign the 4473), then call the ATF anyway and provide them with the photo.  We don't need people like him making the gun industry look bad.

Contacting every FFL in that area and warning them about the set up.

Apparently he does.  Maybe it's a buddy of his.

We are only hearing one side of the story. I do not condone ruining a persons life and maybe family over what may be a scheduling problem. I know as a FFL myself he is supposed to do it at the licensed address.
Not any of my business that the guy meets his customers at a public place. He is the one tacking the risk not me or the customer.

I have heard back from several dealers, all claim it is not them but thanked me for the heads up. Maybe I got the right person and he will expedite the transfer.

You're right there, but you're making it your business by warning those conducting illegal activities.

I could care less what the dealer does. However making yourself the FFL Police is as vile to me as any criminal.

I hope the offending FFL sees these posts. Maybe if he has too much on his plate right now backing off on transfers might be a good thing. He can always start again when he has the time.

This FFL seems to have a pattern of doing the transfer elsewhere if the OP has done that multiple times to get his transfer completed. The FFL should conduct his business to the letter of the law because he is in a highly scrutinized industry.

You calling dealers in that area is ridiculous to me. Post your business name so I can know who not to recommend.
