Hello, all.

I have a Taurus .44 special that needs some work and I would rather not mess with sending it to them. Any recommendations for a good revolver smith in the Chicago west suburban area?

Thanks

Bob

Breech & Barrel in Shorewood is replacing the barrel on my Ruger Super Blackhawk. I haven't seen his work yet but time will tell.

I used to carry a revolver as a bug, and I took it to alot of training and IDPA matches. The training that it took to get decent with it took many more thousands of rounds than it did with any semi auto. Worse, after alot of use I started having timing issues with the cylinder not lining up properly and this was fixed several times. and in my experience, if a semi auto malfunctions (rare with my personal G26), its fixable. a malfunction with a wheel gun makes it unshootable. and thats dangerous.

Thanks for the info; Shorewood isn't too far away.

Any other recommendations from members?

This isn't a self-defense revolver. It is a large-frame .44 spl. that is a great deal of fun for recreational shooting. I like to introduce youngsters to shooting and this piece is a pleasant-shooting "upgrade" once we get the basics down with a .22.
