are there any good gun smiths around in the chicagoland area anyone would recomend? action is a rem 700.

Since there are 40 plus views and no responses, I would say to do it yourself. I did one of my rifles, and it is scary as hell but it worked out perfectly. I am sure that youtube has a bunch of videos on how to do it.

All gunsmithing other than slapping together an AR is scary at first. I just finished building a 1911 from parts and the prospect of handfitting stuff with a file scared the crap outta me. But I did it and it worked great!



If you run into trouble, the forum is great for helping you get through it. Do it yourself- it's worth it and I think gunsmithing's fun :D

ive gun smithed before. couple years ago i did a home build on a 1919.

but the thought of having $600 bonded to $400 forever gets me nervous.

im going to bed the scope rail as practice then ill try the stock.

It scared the crap out of me too. I used Johnson's paste wax and I applied it two or three times just to be sure. I laid the epoxy and put it all together and let it dry. I waited for a day or two then tried to get it apart, nothing was moving. I thought to myself.... oh crap. Then I took a rubber mallet to it and presto.... it popped apart. Just be generous with the wax and all should be good.
