I planned on visiting Madison county to visit an old Army buddy.
I recognize my CCP from AL is not valid in IL. I don't want to travel all that way without my pistol. Can any shed light on the firearms laws for a non-resident? ETA: I found this thread: http://www.ar15.com/content/page.html?id=519 Any other county specific or more updated information I need to know? |

I live in a more fire arms friendly county but work in Madison County. I pretty much never carry a fire arm off duty there just to avoid any hassles. Just leave it at home or inaccessible when you get here. Make sure you friend is ok about it if you bring it on his property.
It is generally assumed around here that anyone who carries a fire arm is crazy or afraid. You would be considered dangerous because a criminal will take the gun away from you and use it against you and anyone else that was with you. Basically because of our tough gun laws our criminals do not have guns. You will be bringing one to them. That makes you as dangerous or more dangerous than a criminal. |
