Hey guys, like the guy in the Chicago thread, I have a job interview in Springfield. I wanted to make sure that I had the gun laws straight while I consider the job (along with others in other states)
1. Need a FOID to own, touch, or smell a gun. 2. According to the ISP there are no local gun ordinances in Springfield. Obviously no state preemption. 3. No NFA except AOW, no CCW. 4. No statewide AWB 5. Out of state concealed carry license is substitute for FOID when out of state resident travels/stays in state for short periods Anything else important I missed? How is that part of the state? Jobs, culture, etc? |

If your moving to Springfield you may or may not like it. We are a smallish city 107k people or so, add another 50k+ for small towns near us. It's cold in the winter and hot and humid in the summer. The people for the most part are nice, avoid the east and north east parts of town if you like your life. What is the company your going to work for? |

I liked the city a lot, it seemed nice. I was told to avoid certain parts of town, but anywhere is nicer than Detroit. |

Quoted: Lol anything is better than Detroit! If you take the job IM me and I can introduce you to the two private shooting clubs here. People here are generally friendly and will stop to help others. However 50% have no clue how to drive!Quoted: If your moving to Springfield you may or may not like it. We are a smallish city 107k people or so, add another 50k+ for small towns near us. Quoted: That is crap, unless you live on the east side of town you will most likely never be a crime victim. OP should try to live on the west or south west side of town if he takes the job.Pick what part of the city you are going to be living in or near carefully. 100 most dangerous US cities <––-see no. 42 |

Freaking incredible............... at least I'm moving down state near St.Louis so Bass Pro/Cabela's/Hi-Tech will be an easy drive across the river. |

Cabelas in indiana asked for my friends FOID when he bought bullets only ... no powder, ammo or primers... He was a little upset because he felt there was no danger unless he throws them at ya.... This kind of ridiculous law in this state is no surprise.

I appreciate the offer and if I end up there I will certainly want to check out the clubs. |

I'm in healthcare in Springfield; if you're going to be affiliated with the hospitals, be very careful around that area at night. Even the west-side where I work is seeing an increase in crime.
If you come to town, feel free to IM me with any ?'s to help you get settled in. |
| Sorry guys! Arizona guy here! I lived 19 years in Illinois (Springfield, Normal, Carbondale). Escaped to Arizona in 2000. Illinois SUCKS the big one! Errrrrrrr Shitcago and some spineless liberal a-holes in spring patch! I am sooooo sorry that you all have to live with that Obama loving Kenyion rules! Your all welcome to move here! Almost ZERO gun laws here! Fight on brothers! |
| Im working a trade with a member for some ammo.He lives in IL but were shipping due to distance. This is a private seller, not a dealer. Hes asking for a copy of my foid and drivers license. Ive dealt with identity theft before so Im really weary of sending personal info to someone I dont know. Does this sound right? Do I need a copy of his FOID also? |

If you have concern copy your cards and black out the Drivers License and Foid card Numbers Just leave your picture and address and exp date on both. I could be wrong but I don't see anything wrong with that. Its just like buying ammo or power at a gun show they just want to see if you have a card. |
