Mark Kirk didn't sign the letter opposing restrictions on the 2nd ammendment in the UN small arms treaty:

Yeah... I know Mark Kirk sucks. We've had 2 Kirk threads now in the past few days, I'm wondering what happened to the Kirk Kool-aid drinkers. I don't know about Kirk kool-aid drinkers, but I think there are quite a few who preferred Kirk to Giannoulias. Hell of a choice. |

Just a refresher for the few that might not know - a piece of legislation that (thankfully) went nowhere, but the esteemed Mr. Kirk was boastfully proud of:
H.R. 6257: Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008
110th Congress: 2007-2008 To reinstate the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act. The "Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act" was a misnamed little Amendment that was tacked onto H.R.3355 –– Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 - which came to be known as the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban. Sponsor: Rep. Mark Kirk [R-IL10]
Link for your viewing pleasure: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h110-6257 The voters have gotten rid on many of the others co-sponsors. It'd be nice to have Kirk retire with a military, rather than a legislative pension. |

I wasn't aware of any "KKA" folks here - during the election there were plenty of threads that were negative about him, and he certainly wasn't my first choice of a candidate. IMO he's more proof that the IRP seems like they'd have as hard a time fielding an electable and popular candidate as selling gasoline hats in hell. That said, if the (R)'s can take the senate it's doubtful that he would go against them in voting concerning judicial appointments, which as we've seen can make a difference in the long run. |

It is so obvious why his name was not on the letter. One of two things happened:
Either: 1. He was in the bathroom when the letter went around for signature. or 2. He was running late to the meeting. I was being funny, here. Along with Tango7, I am surprised he wasn't involved. |

Setting the price that high keeps all the working class blacks, hispanic and white trash from areas other than the $uburb$ riff raff out. |
| I emailed Kirk a letter (twice) requesting his support for the carry bill voted on and defeated last May. In it I asked him (or his staff) to reply with a clarification of his position on gun control and the 2nd Amendment right to bear. The bastard never replied, but he did abuse my email address by adding it to his mailing list without my permission. So the only thing I got was a bunch of unsolicited bullshit newsletters which never even remotely addressed my original questions (I promptly unsubscribed). What a jackass. |
