Can anybody recommend a top-notch gunsmith that can removed a damaged barrel from a S&W Victory and replace it with a new surplus barrel (which I'll provide)?
Would prefer Norther Illinois/Southern Wisconsin/Northern Indiana area, but will ship to the right gunsmith if it's too far to drive. Shouldn't shoot rapid fire with a valuable collectors piece. Had a squib (factory ammo) followed by two quick non-squibs. Split the barrel and broke my heart. Thanks for your help. |

Since no one has responded to you, I would suggest going outside the state for the revolver work. The best revolver people IMHO are at Cylinder and Slide Inc. They have a good reputation and have been featured in Michael Bane's "Shooting Gallery" on the Outdoor channel. They are located in Freemont, NE. Here is the website for them: Cylinder and Slide I would give them a call. Hope this helps you... |

Don Dansby in Peoria does great work on revolvers, and just about any other gun you may have. His phone number is 309 697 3449 Don Dansby would be my first choice. My second choice would be Tom Kilhoffer in Rantoul. Tom's telephone number is 217-893-1035 and e-mail address is [email protected]. He has a website - www.tkcustom.com or www.moonclips.com and he specializes in S&W revolvers. |

The folks at Oglesby and Oglesby Gunsmiths just north of Springfield are known for their work on single-actions, might give them a call:
