| I've seen them but never read those ILHTF C&R threads. Anyway, I just wanted to touch base on the process with someone who's gotten their C&R. I requested Form F 7CR here. I'm then sent this form within the next few weeks(hopefully). I fill it out, include some fingerprints and photos and the $30 fee (i think), send it back and wait another few weeks. Oh yeah, I think I must also notify the police chief of the town where I reside about my C&R intentions. How long does the whole process take? If I wrong on any of this, please correct me. Thanks! |

You don't need fingerprints for C&R, just fill out the form. Mail one copy to the chief law enforcement officer, mail the other to ATF w/payment. Sit back and plan out how fast you're going to max out your credit card. lol... Any idea about how long the whole process takes? |

Sending forms out today, 12/28/05. Will update for payment and receipt of license. ETA: Credit card charged 1/2/06 ETA: Doh! I received a letter dated 1/26/06 requesting information. I have submitted it. This will probably delay it a while longer. ETA: HELL YEAH! Got it 2/25/06 From here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=14&t=174340&page=4 |
| I think mine was 45 days. Aurora's gun ban has some interesting language about "dealers" without any real definition of what they mean or what specific FFL type. I don't want to be the guy that tests it in court, but a C&R might be argued to be a "dealer" by a lawyer looking for a loophole. Like I said, I wouldn't bet my own rear on it. :) |

Please forgive my ignorance. If you can get a C&R shipped directly to your home, why would someone get a C&R license? What are the benefits of getting the C&R license? Thanks! In order to get a C&R rifle shipped directly to your home you have to have a FFL 03 which is a C&R license. You also get dealer pricing at a lot of stores. Midwayusa and Brownells to name a few. |

IIRC, my first C&R app ran about 90 days. I recouped the $30 cost sveral times over in discounts from Brownells and MidwayUSA. Might as well add the UPS guy to your Christmas card list....... HA!! I should do the same. My UPS guy told me numerous times last year that I really helping to stimulate the economy... |
