I recieved an email with a picture of Obama attached.  It shows him with Clinton and a few other people, standing in front of the flag, and he doesn't have his hand over his chest.  This is important because they are saying the Plege of Allegiance and the text in the mail reffered to him refusing to not only place his hand over his heart - but he refused to say the pledge.

The crazy thing is, to me, the picture looks unaltered.

Have you fellow Illinois friends seen this picture?

Bob

If you want the email, PM me with your email address.

Yea, my wife brought that picture home from work about three months ago. I can't say if it is altered or not. We're die hard Ron Paul supporters and would never think of voting for anyone else. But to be honest with you neither my wife or I say the pledge of allegiance anymore either. It's not because were anti-American but because the words don't hold true anymore.

Read the guest editorial by John O'Conner inside the back cover of Mar/April American Handgunner on this subject. Has Muslim background and shows no respect for our flag proving this is free America and anyone can run for president.

Oh that just sets me on fire.  I seen the photo and thought it was doctored or the story caught him off guard...but this guy wants to be our president and he doesn't fall on ceremony?!?  He refuses to do the little things that we were all taught as kids.

Very few things hold true....You are born, you pay taxes, you die.

Many things are had because of fortune and luck...Being born in the greatest country in the world is one.

One thing is for sure, if you are lucky enough to be born here, and you take advantage of the liberties and freedoms that people bled and gave their lives for - you better damn well respect the flag many have so valiantly broke their backs for.  ESPECIALLY the Commander in Chief.

To dismiss this is lunacy.

This is offensive.

If I was anyone on that podium I would push him off the end.

Why does the link keep messing up?

You, sir, get it.  I too, think that Pledge is nothing but a bunch of hollow, empty words in the wake of what's going on in contempory government in regard to the respect for the citizenry's rights and financial responsibility.

If any person who wants to be President of the United States won't plead allegiance to the country, then he/she does not need to be the President.  Disrespecting the flag will not gain my support.

I'd be happier if they respect the Bill of Rights.

I guess I see your points, but to me, what we have isn't "the Republic for which it stands."

For starters our President Bush is a chip off the old block. His daddy, family and friends have been promoting the one world government or world order or whatever else you want to call it for decades. Which means they need to destroy our sovereignty to accomplish their cause. They say we are a democracy, if you haven't noticed, which means we are NOT a Republic. And by the way King George is Mexico's favorite President. Do ya get the drift yet? And let's talk liberty...if I recall we are constantly having to fight to keep our guns. And the government of Ill-noise regretfully allows us to keep some...for now...if you have a FOID card, no past arrests, no counseling issues, no order of protections have been brought against you and heaven forbid you carry them on your person not to mention if you have to defend yourself you need to retreat into your home like a good sheeple. Oh, and by the way, do you think you own your own home. I know people who have worked hard to pay off their house and yet if anyone of them can't pay their taxes...goodbye home! Try to make an improvement on YOUR house without a government permission slip and you get to pay a fine. For all of you in delusional land let me spell this out for you...we do NOT live in a FREE country. My wife and I choose not to say the pledge because we would be repeating a lie. I fear GOD more than I fear your wrong headed patriotism or criticism.

That's what I got out if it too.  If this is the case, I see no disrespect.  Freedom to practice any religion is what this country was founded on.

You gentlemen all make some strong points that I hadn't thought about.  Thank you for the clarity of your responses and conducting yourselves in such a positive way.  I'm glad this didn't get into a war between internet commandos and such.

I still think he should be placing his hand over his heart while the pledge is being spoke.  To me, durring the pledge or any time were the flag is displayed as the center of attention, it is a time to remember what it stands for.  In doing this, the military salutes while citizens cover their heart.  Maybe I'm flexing my "old fashion" stance.

Thanks again for posting in such a professional mannor.

All I know is that we are headed into some bad times as far as freedom and our right to bear arms, between all cameras in the streets for the so called security and all the legislations that keep coming back to take our guns away;  WILL pass someday.

I do not know what the answer is but I have some ideas not sure if its doable but they are probably way to radical to post on a public site.  Any way we (as in general) sit here and bitch and bitch but nothing ever gets done, and I for one is just as much fault.

Now that I went off course of the thread and then forgot what the thread was about, oh yeah Os(b)ama check out the Church that he belongs to; its for what I can tell anti American and its all about Africa, that is why he is not patriotic to the USA.

Good point about putting one's hand over the heart...we had never thought about doing that. I love this country for what it once was and was always meant to be from our very wise founding fathers. I see no harm in the respectfullness of putting our hands over our hearts, we just can't say the words. I believe we will do just that from now on...Thanks!

He is not a Muslim though.  He lived in a Muslim country for a little part of his life.

He is a Christian though

Either way, what is the problem if he is Muslim?

I know a lot of Christians who pledge their allegiance to the flag.  Is it against the tenets of Christianity to show respect to your country?

I do agree with you about the country and the pledge.  I dont think I will pledge allegiance to a flag that has allowed my rights to be denied.  I never thought of it that way.

If you are in the Bloomington Normal area, we do have a Ron Paul office for the local meetup groups.  If you are interested or need some signs etc.  private message me and I can help you out.

His name is Obama and not Osama.  Why dont you get a real argument and argue against his politics instead of his heritage or religious beliefs?  Especially when you have no clue about either.
