A question for the good folks here. Does anyone know if there are any limits in Illinois on how many handguns one can purchase within the same month? I bought a gunadgun 4/23/07 and I want to get a Springfield XD before the price goes up any further but I'm just worried if this is allowed or will it red flag me since I already bought a gun not too long ago. Thanks in advance for the replies.

I don't believe there is a limit, but if you buy more than 2 in one week or at one time, you get turned in for multiple sales and they put you on a watch list and investigate.

That is true if you buy 2 in 5 or 7 days (cant remember right now) the dealer needs to fill out extra paperwork and send to the ATF and the State Police.  Not sure and the watch list thing or investigation part, I have had to fill out the paperwork for multiple sales several times and never heard from either of the 2 parties.  I think they probably are understaffed to investigate every multple sale.

I always wait longer than the 7 days to puchase handguns just in case.

The ISRA has been in existence for 104 Years......If your not an ISRA member....WE NEED YOU NOW....more than ever.  The high capacity magazine ban passed the state Senate and was sent to the House just last week.  We have 2 Lobbyists in Springfield that we support through memberships and contributions.  The money of course helps....but we also need YOU.  We need the number to put behind the Lobbyists.  Out of 1.2 million gun owners in IL.....ONLY about 15,000, belong to the ISRA.  When one of the Lobbyists walks into a lawmaker’s office, we NEED the lawmaker to KNOW that they speak for a VERY large number of IL gun owners.  Just $25 a year, $37 for a family (kids 19 and under).  Please go to www.isra.org today.  PLEASE help us help you.  Do you want to see what we are all about?  If you are in the Joliet area, the Will County chapter meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month (this month the 16th) at "Sara's Place" (a restaurant, on IL-6, close to the Empress) at 7 pm.  Open to all, not just ISRA members.  We also have an Open House at the ISRA range in Bonfield, IL on June 9th, find details on the web site.....www.isra.org

Thanks for the great info guys. While i'm mostly a lurker in this site, I am very active in writing my politicians (that means you Cronin!!) and letting them know how I feel about situations. I have written about that new bill and hopefully it doesn't come thru. I am really appreciative of all the people in both the NRA and ISRA and others who are very active in protecting my rights. I am currently in the process of signing up for the ISRA. Thanks again.

I have heard that in addition to being "flagged" by the Illinois State Police for buying more than one handgun in a seven day period, you are also added to a list maintained by Daley's CAGE unit.
