| any of u guys been to the isra range? just looking for feedback and comments, good or bad.hat |
| I'm not a member and haven't been there, but it looks like a pretty decent place to shoot albeit conventional. I've been searching for an outdoor rifle/pistol range after my primary location no longer became an option. It's definitely hard to find a good place to shoot. Most places are either radically sportsman oriented, have outrageous fees and work requirements or are impossible to actually join. I've been looking online and the range in Bristol, WI might also be a possibility, depending on your location. I'll have to check them both out before I decide. |
No change. Super slow fire. Every once in a while they have an assualt weapon day competition for fun. Bring your mags for that one. Check their calander for schedule. |

I liked the ISRA range because most of the time there were very few people there. I have not been a member since I am working on my MBA and I have no time for fun. All I ever do is shoot some trap at Bristol, which is ok, but I don't like the one round rule for the rifle range. ![]() I will rejoin the ISRA range soon. |
I can handle controlled firing, but how slow is slow? One shot rule for rifle? What about pistol? Hammered pairs? Double taps? Say it ain't so. |
good choice, and the slow fire isnt that slow, just not rapid fire(aka pulling the trigger as fast as you can). Otherwise you can keep pulling the trigger as long at its not as fast and you can and out of control...inless theres noone there that day |
| There are range officers, but they aren't crawling up your back to watch you. We emphasize safety at the range and for that reason there is no rapid fire allowed. All shooting is aimed fire. There is no rule that says you can only load 1 round at a time, you can load your mags fully, but again it must be aimed fire. If you want to blast away, go to the pit at Buffalow. The ISRA range is where we practice accuracy, hold competitions, teach safety, and get ready for Camp Perry. With that said, we don't want or need any mishapps or accidents. Alot of money has been spent on the range in the last few years, updating, erecting larger berms and generaly making it a great place to shoot/compete and remember there are thoes that would like to see the range shut down, there is a lot of building going on just outside of the range and we can't have any rounds go over the berm. |
half the time theres no range officer there. you can enter the place 24 hours a day 365 days a year, and shooting is from dusk till dawn |

I was a member for over five years and never saw a range officer or anyone in the "booth" where you sign in. There were many times when I was there alone. I saw another member tell a shooter to watch where he pointed the barrel of his rifle when he was cleaning it, but every time I was there we were on our own and had a very safe and enjoyable time. People did some rapid fire, but it was all down range so it was all good. I don't see the unsafe aspect of rapid fire. Maybe I have not been around unsafe shooters. Why would anyone care if another shooter is not accurate? The backstops are very high and there are overhead baffles, so the only problem would be that the shooter does not hit his target if he is not being precise.Sometimes firing a weapon may require some rapid shooting, why would it be discouraged?

| Sounds really nices. I don't mind safety and appreciate people trying to make the shooting evironment safer for me. What kinda gets me is the sport shooters telling combat/defensive shooters they're unsafe just because they drill differently. I think I might fill out an app. Thanks for the input -everyone-. |
