[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Gun Safe Moving

Moving to the area and want to buy a new gun safe. A lot of the stores i have contacted don't have movers to move it. Any of you guys know a place who will move the safe for you. the safe is 575lbs.

Moving to the plainfield/aurora/naperville area.

I bought one and moved over Memorial Weekend. I had Stevenson's Transfer out of Ottawa, IL. move mine and take it down the basement stairs. They had a "stair climber" that took the thing down the stairs hands free. It was incredible. Almost 800lbs. moving down the stairs being controlled by a toggle switch. Give them a call. They are in the book and reasonable.

I know someone that's used Stevensons, good people to deal with from what I hear.

Check with Midwest Sporting Goods in Lyons, IL. They sell safes and have the stair climbing dolly to move them. Their number is 708-447-4848

Zanotti safes are a good option. They are probably not cost effective unless you are going to move more than once. The base model is approx $1000. The 6 foot model with drawers is close to $2000. The distributor in this area is Merle Pauley out of Rockford.
