HEY GUYS , WHAT KIND OF SCOPES DO YOU USE? HAS ANYONE TRIED OUT A TRU-GLOW 2X RED DOT ? I KNOW  .45 RON USES A EO-TECH BUT AT 3 BILLS THAT IS A LOT OF MONEY AND I HAVE ALWAYS SHOT WITH IRON SIGHTS . I WAS THINKING ABOUT A CUSTOM FRONT SIGHT FROM CABELA'S , A GREEN DOT LITEPIPE IT LOOKS LIKE  THAT WOULD HELP.   THANKS   .....MIKE

I like the fiber optic (light pipe) I have on my GP-100 357 revo.

Sometimes the cheaper red dots wash out in the sun.  I don't know much about them.

The optics forum is a pretty good source of info. Optics forum

They used to have a cool thread with pics looking through all the different optics.

TAKE OFF YOUR CAPS LOCK IT LOOKS LIKE YOUR YELLING.

You can get paralax-free red dots for under $100.

I have a Millet red dot that Im satisfied with, and for 1/3 the price of an EOTech why not?

Me personally, I have no use for optics on this kind of rifle.  I don't view it as capable of hits at distances that I think a scope is necessary for, and it's an unnecessary expense.

I guess I take pleasure in that I shoot well with regular sights.  I did buy a flat top AR just in case I ever see the need for as scope/optical sight....but as of now, at any price, even free, I have no use for optics.

One thing I've noticed, not about you guys, but about people with AR's in general, is that many are heavy on equipment and light on marksmanship.  I personally would rather spend my money mastering the most simplistic of equipment before adding anything to it to make it, "more capable" as far as a piece of equipment is concerned.

You guys might be shocked to know that the majority of, "Tactical" equipment lacks some of the most important, aftermarket, so-called, "Tactical" accessories.

I guess I'm different in that I learned to shoot an AR as the M16A2 rifle, so I'm just so used to it, it's pretty natural for me.

Keep in mind this is just my personal opinion.  I shot K9Copper's rifle with the EOTech and I thought it was pretty sweet.....but I do love my sights, as well...

Optics can be a tough choice to make.  For me money was part of my determinator, as well as ruggedness.

Most would say the ACOG is the best, but at 600.00 - 1000.00+ they are outta my league for now.(I spend that on scopes for the bolt guns, not for red-dots.)

I went with a Aimpoint M2 for my AR.  It was about 400.00 when I got it,  and I do like it.  I could difinitely see it being handy for a little Yote work.

Then there are the Cheaper ones(definitely in price, quality can be good though).  Millet, BSA, Simmons, etc.  There was even a very close knock off of the Trijicon systems and the Aimpoint systems, that were suppose to be very good.  Lawsuits have pretty much killed them though.  I personally have a El Cheapo BSA red dot for my Beowulf.  At 100 yrds, I was hitting with in the 8in circle target.  They may not hold up long on my beowulf or a shotgun, but a .223 will take thousands of rounds to damage it.

Good luck with your choice, and happy shooting.

Aimpoint CompM. Less than $200 in group buy. I was just shooting cornstalks at about 150 yds with this sucker on Thursday

EOTech 512 Rev. F. Gift for 19th B-Day.

I'm capable with my irons and don't want a magnified optic yet. The red-dot optics are faster than irons. There's no 2 ways about that.

That said, some people just don't like red-dots or optics in general.

No seriously you are right, it will give you and edge. But so will practice, and the batteries on my Irons never run out.

Were you using the Vepr in the match? If I had known that I would have let you borrow the Kobra that used to be on it.

The batteries in my M3 will never run out either.

And if they do, I got 3 spares in the rifle.  Two in the pistol grip, and one in the larue mount.

I think I'm covered.

Key is remembering to practice with the irons as well.  I really wish I was able to give that course at buffalo a shot , thats pretty much the only "style" of shooting I do anymore, up at the secret range, except no shotguns.

I have a hard time focusing on my sights, something to do with my glasses... (excuse)

I use a Bussy Dissy with iron sites and at close range (very close) I do very well.
But put the target back a bit and I am all over the place...
I need to set my point of aim further back and learn to judge distances better for my bullet drop!

WIZZO_ARAKM14
Let me try his Ar with the EOTech 512 and it was like shooting thru a TV set!
I was able to shoot with both eyes open and it was a blast!

I also shoot with a Bushy Varminter, that is scoped 3X10X44 and it works very well at all ranges!
I do need to set point of aim on it.. mabey starting at 200 yards and work on it from there!

My third setup is my RRA lower with ASA 9MM upper.  Works great except for some mag issues, iron sights, runs very well and spits out lead as fast as I can keep up!
Point of aim?
Bullet drop?
Wind?
Who Cares Its A Fun Gun!
I shoot it because its great fun and cheep to shoot!
I dont care if I cant hit that 100Yard plat with it!  I did not buy it for accuracy, iron sites or optics be damned!  I shoot my guns once in a great while I and I enjoy shooting them in the company of others...!  As long as no Jack Asses are around to mess things up I realy like shooting with the AR15.COM guys!

Some people get to wound up about opinons, lets leave that shit somewhere else and enjoy what we have here and now!  I saw how Handyandy had his boy with him and that made me proud... I wish my little guy was older so that I could bring him with!  I would let him have his own AR slung up just like little Andy...Damn Proud!

Sorry for the rantings bad start at work, venting here!
