Are there any gun shops around that sell XM193 or Q3131A in bulk for a decent price. Im trying to avoid paying shipping. Thanks Remman |

I don't know of anywhere you are going to save money over ordering from Ammoman, etc. Once tax is taken into the price you usually are at $200/1000rd case whether you buy at a store or mail order. To be honest I have found it to be CHEAPER to purchase online than in stores- last time i checked Gander mountain was selling winchester Q3131A (when they even have it in stock) for $4.99/20 round box! The one exception is if you g\can get up to the GAT Guns back-of-truck winchest sale, where I got out the door with a case of Q3131A (100 rounds) for $173 last year. unfortunately that sale is only on one weekend in Septmeber. Also keep your eyes open for the Bass Pro ammo sales, they ofter have pretty good deals like $2.99/20 of Q3131A, but damn does it go fast! Dawg |

I bought 2 cases of Q3131A at the local Winchester truck sale for $144 each including tax. He said he would beat Bass Pro's price and he did. Bass Pro does give rain checks also. It took about 6 weeks for them to get my ammo but they did and honored the rain check. |

I cleaned out their stock (Xm193) a few weeks ago (not much). Hopefully they get it replenished soon. Shore Galleries seems really neurotic to me. Usually I get really rude service there, and this is after waiting a long time standing around for help. Every time (except once) when I go there, they ask if I'm law enforcement. Although they do consider themselves LE distributors, and give discounts to LEOs, I always get the vibe they don't think non-police should own knives or guns. One time I asked to see a knife, and before opening the case the guy behind the counter asked if I was law enforcement. I said "does it matter?" and he immediately said no and seemed apologetic. Why do they have such poor salesmanship? Is it because they think when Daley goes for lawsuits against gun shops that they will be left out? They are really turning away a lot of potential business. |
gsghellokitty, William is a great friend of mine. However, he left Shore about three years ago. Please come back to visit. We can talk about the old days. [email protected] |
Dr. Death, I have been introduced to so many, cut from the same cloth as myself, who enjoy a weekend out hunting and shooting, including prairie dogs. Since my list is private, I will not bother naming you, but I know who you are. Thanks for the positive remarks. Mike and I really appreciate it. Keep your powder dry, dope the wind, and SQUEEZE! First of all, allow me to apologize on behalf of Shore Galleries for any inconvenience you have experienced when shopping at Shore Galleries. Our primary business is that of a Law Enforcement Distibutor. We have developed our business over 45 years to cater to the buying interests and requirements of law enforcement, while maintaining the ability to sell to the general public without exclusivity, unlike any other LE Distibutor in Illinois. We buy direct from the manufacturers and sell at reduced prices to Law Enforcement as well as similarly discounted prices to the general public. The primary reason we ask customers if they are members of law enforcement is to eliminate any question as to the pricing schedule we are required to use by our manufacturers. As a bonifide LE Distibutor, we are bound by the manufacturers to sell our products at a pre-determined price. We always allow a substantial discount for our civilian customers in the process. Lastly, as to the issue of the frivilious Daley lawsuits, we were named as one of the nine original defendants in the ongoing $430 Million suit against gun dealers in the Chicago metro area. Two of the original defendants have gone out of business due to the financial pressures of fighting the City of Chicago. We were not exempted due to our LE Distibutor status, nor the fact that we provide the Chicago Police Department with the bulk of their firearms, ammunition, and duty-related equipment. If our sales strategies seem unreasonable or disconcerting to our customers, I again apologize on behalf of Shore Galleries. It has only seemed prudent to identify those members of the law enforcement community, as well as our law abiding citizen customer base, by asking a simple question at the outset of our providing service, in order to do so both legally and effectively, with the appropriate discounts being given to all. We also require that each individual entering the firearms section of our retail store to provide appropriate identification in the forms of valid F.O.I.D. card or LE credentials. This seems a prudent response to our current situation. Amidst all of the litigation and the potential threats for reprisal, to both the corporation and to each individual employed by Shore, we strive to provide the best service, the best pricing we can to the LE community and to the law abiding customers of the greater Chicago area. It is extremely unfortunate that the politics of the time, and the arena in which we do business, has brought us to this course of business. If you have further questions or if I can provide additional services to anyone wishing to do business with Shore Galleries, please feel free to contact me personally. Thank you for this opportunity to respond. Respectfully, Evin W. | I only wish that SHORE could have gotten their new building complex that they wanted( a few years back) but the town would not allow it. Mitch does great at the old store but a new more modren store sure would have been nice. Parkings a bitch with the dry cleaners next door! |

ewgskokie, I appreciate the time you took to write your response and clarify why you ask each customer whether they are law enforcement or not. Shore Galleries is definitely very conveniently located to me, and I will definitely continue to shop at your store. I believe there are those that do not know why you ask the question, and feel like they have to defend why they are at your store. For example, instead of just asking "what department are you with?"...which seems to imply that you should be from a department...simply ask, "are you eligible for LE pricing" or something to that effect. Again, I think some people could care less how you ask it...but some people might...and being cautious of how you ask the question can only bring additional sales to your store. Again, thanks for your well-reasoned response. It allows me to see where you're coming from. |

I used to live in Illinois, (Chicago, Skokie, then Cary), before I got a job transfer to Texas. I purchased my very first gun from Shore Galleries and then some. I agree with Dr. Death with regards to some of the people there. I have dealt with Mike, Jerry, Harvey and others... including Mitch and Sig. Just like everybody else, they have their good days and bad days but overall I have found them to very helpful not just for firearms but also for reloading and other accessories. Evin: I don't know if Shore is still doing this but at one time, I remember that you guys had auctions. I bought a Glock 17 with 2 hicaps in one of those auctions for $299. You also have a monthly specials flyer mailed out to regular customers. Mike also used to sell at Lake County and DuPage County Gun Shows. Anyway, Shore Galleries was one of my favorite place to go when I used to live in Illinois. |
Booker3557, Nice to hear from you. Many things have changed since your last visit. Sadly, Sig Shore passed away two weeks ago. He had been retired from the business for several years. Mitch has been running things for quite some time. The Mike you refer to is not the Mike we have now. Jones went to O'Herrons. Our Mike D. is the Store Manager. Jerry I am unfamiliar with, however, the Inimitable Harvey is still with us! I would like to think that we have the most courteous and knowledgeable staff in this business, but will concede that even I have an off day now and again, particularly when confronted with certain problematic issues unique to this business. I am very happy to see the responses generated thus far with this thread and I welcome others, constructive criticism included. We strive to provide knowlegeqable service and to continue to grow our business in spite of the political climate. I would love to see the numbers of civilian customers back that we had 15 years ago. Buy a Gun; Piss off a Liberal! As to the auctions, we did hold an auction two weeks ago, but it was the first one in almost 13 years. Our business is primarily LE. Almost no sporting arms remain in the store as Daley and the other gun-grabbers continue to pummel the Chicago metro area with anti-gun sentiment and legislation. Sincerely, Evin Galbraith |
Thank you for your understanding. And, I again apologize for your discomfort during your last visit. I will forward your comments to the owner of Shore Galleries and we shall consider changing our sales strategies. Thank you for your continued interest in Shore Galleries. Sincerely, Evin Galbraith |
Yes, that Mike is still there and in charge! There was another Mike that Booker 3557 referred to from years ago, Mike Jones. Mike D. is still handling leather and knives. Thanks again for the support! Evin |
BLISH_LOCK, Back to ammo! Federal XM-193 is sold for $159/1000 plus tax @ 8.5% everyday at Shore. This is our everyday discounted price to everybody! Sorry, we do not handle Winchester ammunition as a distributor. In addition, there will be a huge ammo blowout sale in the month of December, usually around the 15th, where we clean house for the coming year's inventory. CASH AND CARRY ONLY! Thanks for your inquiry. Evin |
