It is very crucial to the survival of our 2nd Amendment rights in the State of Illinois that we elect officials that are on our side of the cause.  It is vital that everyone votes on March 16th.  Get you family and friends out to vote.  Do whatever you can to help the cause.

In reading up on the candidates to replace Peter Fitzgerald, it appears that John Borling is someone that can help our cause.  I picked up an information sheet at GAT about John Borling, and it said he is in favor of concealed carry.  You can read about the retired Major General at www.borlingforsenate.com

I have heard news reports that Jack Ryan is currently the front runner in this race. www.jackryan2004.com

JACK RYAN ON THE 2ND AMENDMENT

The 2nd Amendment is an individual constitutional right. As a U.S. Senator, I will stand firm in defense of the rights of law-abiding Illinois residents to exercise their rights, whether it be for personal protection, hunting, or sporting activities.

Gun control in the United States has been a failed policy. Blaming gun ownership for the problems plaguing some of Illinois’ cities is ignoring reality. Instead of taking guns away from law abiding citizens, we need to address the root causes of criminal behavior, including the breakdown of the family and hopelessness caused by lack of access to quality education and a lack of opportunity for segments of our society.

I will focus on three main issues while fighting to protect the constitutionally guaranteed gun rights of American citizens:

1. Work to guarantee that Washington recognizes the 2nd Amendment is an individual right under the Constitution;

Law abiding citizens that choose to own guns should not be punished for the transgressions of criminals. People who break existing gun laws should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. We should not be punishing law abiding citizens who responsibly use and own guns for sport and protection.

2. Work with law enforcement officials and the courts to toughen penalties on criminals who commit crimes with a gun;

In Chicago, gun ownership is banned, but yet the city has one of the highest murder rates in the country. We need to toughen penalties on criminals who commit crimes with guns by embracing effective programs such as Project Exile and strong mandatory minimum sentences for criminals who use guns to commit crimes. Additionally, I will encourage state and federal prosecutors throughout Illinois to work together, sharing information and resources to prevent criminals from getting guns and to promote stiffer penalties for individuals who commit crimes with guns.

3. Support efforts that keep guns from persons who should not have them;

Technologically advanced programs such as the National Instant Check System (NICS) should be supported instead of more ineffective regulations. NICS offers an efficient and equitable interdiction method as opposed to the cookie-cutter, one-size fits all gun control laws and curtailment of citizens’ individual rights. Quick and instant background checks that are not de facto waiting periods are a first step towards guaranteeing the constitutional rights of law abiding citizens while at the same time keeping firearms away from those who shouldn’t have them.

One of my duties as a U.S. Senator from Illinois will be to preserve and protect the Constitution of the United States, and that includes defending the 2nd Amendment from those who wish to dilute its meaning.

Does anyone have good information about these candidates, besides their propaganda websites?  What are your thoughts?

How do we get rid of "Dick" Durbin in 2008?  Or are we stuck with this ass the same way other states can't get rid of Kennedy, or Schumer, Feinswine...etc?

I don't want to see another turncoat pansy in the senate representing the State of Illinois.
