Since the gun control bill thread is so hot, someone suggested posting our reps and their views, so we know where we stand. My state senator is Dale Risinger, district 37. I contacted him and he is on our side. He has an NRA A rating, but is in his first term, so he didn't receive an endorsement. My state representative is David Leitch. I have not contacted him yet because he doesn't have a public email address. I am planning on contacting him soon, and he has an NRA A rating and was endorsed for election. Statewise, here's the breakdown, as I have it: House (118 seats)--NRA ratings A-49, 41.5% B-10, 8.5% C-7, 5.9% D-11, 9.3% F-24, 20.3% Unknown-17, 14.4% 57 of the 59 NRA A's and B's were endorsed by NRA for election. Senate (59 seats)--NRA ratings A-29, 49.2% B-7, 11.9% C-3, 5.1% D-2, 3.4% F-12, 20.3% Unknown-6, 10.2% 31 of the 36 NRA A's and B's were endorsed by NRA for election. The unknowns are either people who the NRA didn't have a position on, or elections that were too close to call when I wrote it out. Here are the unknowns by district: House 5th--Kenneth Dunkin 6th--Patricia Bailey 10th--Annazette Collins 24th--Frank Aguilar 30th--William Davis 33rd--Marlow H. Colvin 35th--Kevin Carey Joyce 38th--Robin Kelly 39th--Maria Antonia Berrios 42nd--Sandra M.Pihos 51st--Ed Sullivan, Jr. 57th--Elaine Nekritz 59th--Kathleen Ryg 60th--Eddie Washington 67th--Charles E. Jefferson 78th--No idea; my info doesn't hash with NRAs 105th--Shane Cultra Senate 12th--Martin Sandoval 15th--James Meeks 16th--Jacqueline Y. Collins 18th--Edward D. Maloney 20th--Iris Y. Martinez 39th--Don Harmon If one of your congressmen is in the unknown list, and you know their position, let us know and we'll update this. I'm particularly interested in the 78th House District; evidently the winner isn't even on my list as running--a typo obviously. Edited to add: maybe one of the mods could tack this thread so we can have it as a reference. |

Re: 51st House District, Ed Sullivan Jr. www.citizensforsullivan.com/gun_control.html I talked to this guy a short time before the election and he seems ok. I don't remember everything we talked about relating to second amendment issues, but I came away pleased enough to vote for the guy. I will try to contact him soon if these proposed bills get anywhere and try to get him to understand our point of view on these individual bills. Will have to get him to try and understand the concept of the instant background check. The above link is to his web page pre-election, which is still up. Some of the other representatives may also have similar campaign web pages people may want to look for to get a general idea of their views on the issues, before contacting them. |

I don't know if there is a page or not. If I'm not mistaken, NRA doesn't give out its endorsements online. The above is from my November listing in American Rifleman. I marked the winners after the election. I am planning on making such a page available soon, but I'm really busy right now, so it might be a bit before I get to it. In the meantime, if you have a question about a specific district's rep and/or senator, I'll be happy to answer it according to what I have. |

Note: This message was first posted in the other IL gun bill thread, but is repeated in this tacked thread for the benefit of all. I talked to Rep. Skip Saviano, 77th, yesterday. It was not as bad as I expected. We first discussed his HB0551 bill. It seems that he has a couple of gun shops in his district and he is trying to limit the Daley lawsuits that are being brought against them. In his HB0551, he wants a list of the cheap guns made of the zinc alloys developed by the State Police, so that local gun shops could at least say they are not carrying those products or selling those types to gangbangers. I think its a waste of time since drug dealers can afford the best, but Saviano thinks this will reduce the pressure on the gun shops. The Bill also has some language regarding the buildings in which these shops reside. He implied that they are using supposed bldg. code violations to harass the shops. In general, he said he was opposed to all the gun bills. He said he is a hunter and with the gun owners on these issues, but he did drop a bomb when he said that there should be some training before a guy buys a AK-47. I didn't want to argue with him, so I let that comment pass. I told him that we were all concerned about Mayor Daley imposing his anti-gun agenda on the state, but he was confident that the bills would not go far and that there was no money to pay for it all anyway. In an case, I intend to keep track of the house bills and call him again if any bill moves forward in the process. If the CCW bills don't get killed early by the DemoNcrats ( which I expect), I will see what his views on CCW are. Still no word back from Senator Harmon(39th). I had left a message with his office over a week ago and am still waiting. I will try to call him again on Monday. |
There is a page, I've seen it, read it last year before the election. I'm unable to find it again. As I recall it was an NRA page, but it could have been a third-party site printing that information. It's pretty stupid of the NRA doesn't print it on the internet! |
I think it has something to do with federal campaign laws. They can't give it out except to members. Members may have been able to access it somehow, but it seems like I tried to get the information and couldn't do it easily. |
