I go to Sand Springs drylake but some say the drive is too far. I prefer to ride by myself and not with 1000's of dbags....

Everything west of 215 & Charleston is a no go now, so you're going to have to travel a bit.  Being new here, I'd suggest the Jean dry lake bed (exit I-15 at Jean, turn east and then turn north on Las Vegas Blvd.  Go under the railroad bridge and then take your first right into the lake bed).

Study google maps of the area...  there are routes over the mountains to the east to the dry lake bed by Boulder City, routes to the south to Primm, west to Goodsprings and then back north to Mt. Potosi and Blue Diamond Road (and more).  If you want your fill of 5' whoops, one of the Best in the Desert race courses covers the area between the Jean dry lake bed and Primm.  My son and I often did 150 mile rides out there.  You'll see lots of others staging around the lake bed, but there's plenty of space.

What do you mean everything West of 215 and Charleston are a no-go? I ride all over the place from Cold Creek, down to 95 and over Wheeler pass to Pahrump and more. Do you have anything to cite for my reference?

Yeah, I could have been clearer...  I was trying to refer to the "Far Hills" area (i.e. west of the 215 and between about Lake Mead to the north, Blue Diamond Road to the south and including Calico Basin, Red Rock, Bonnie Springs... basically near the OP).  10-15 years ago when my son was just starting to ride, we used to go from Far Hills, up over the saddle north of Calico Basin and then west up to Mt. Charleston.  It was awesome.

OP:  This map sucks but it's what the BLM provides:  BLM OHV Map.  Also see this page:  BLM OHV Page.  Basically, you need to get away from town.
