I live close to the border of Nevada and Cali. My wife is looking to get her CCW for California but it will only help her half the time, due to the fact we spend a lot time in Reno. Any recommendations on classes for her so she can qualify for a non-resident CCW. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
P.S This class would be better if tailored towards women as I do not need to jump through these hoops to carry in either state. Thanks again. |

OP,
Get ahold of gunmonkey here in the NVHTF. GM has his finger on the pulse of everything gun related in the Reno area. I'm sure he can give you a competent and reliable referral. Hope this helps. BTW: Thanks for the mention, Obo. ETA: OP, you can also try giving my friend Vicki Kawelmacher (pronounced call maker) at The Women's Shooting Academy. Vicki is in the Reno area. |

A good friend of mine runs http://www.aplusfirearms.com/ I've played range master for him a few times and sat through his classes. Very down to earth, and woman friendly. When timing works out, I bring out steel targets for students to play with, last time they helped me beta test a dueling tree. |

If you want a WOMANS class look up Woman's Shooting Academy.
CLICK ME FOR WOMANS SHOOTING COURSES My fiance and her step mom did a basic shooting course through them and enjoyed it. IF shooting with only women and having a woman instructor is something she would be interested in I'd just sign up here. p.s. congratulations on the California CCW victory. The next step would be pushing for Nevada, Arizona and Oregon reciprocity. |

If you are just looking for compliance with the law for the lowest price. Taught by a woman and woman friendly. $60 including lunch at Scheels. http://www.armedandsafe.com/ |
| While compliance is my first and primary concern, it would be nice if they threw in some training and women's perspective, especially now she has one of her best friends on board with taking the class with her. I think the more exposure to like minded women and experience will help encourage her to carry more, and in ways compatible with female carry. The class here in Cali is just nuts and bolts to be in compliance with California. It would be nice for a more in-depth women's approach in class and training. Thanks again for the suggestions!!! |

I can comfortably recommend both Vickie's crew from the Women's Shooting Academy if you are going to be in Reno or Michelle at PWAG http://princesswithagun.com if you are gonna be in the Tahoe Gville area. |

I'd give WSA and Princess a call and ask them. My fiance and step mom took the WSA shooting course and they shot 9mm, 38, and a 357. The step mom did her CCW course through them and now shoots a 45 quite well when they go out from what I'm told. WSA lists their courses online so you could get a good idea of what they offer looking online. oh, and make sure you don't go buy her a purse that holds a gun, every woman I've ever heard talk about those says they're ugly and wouldn't be something a woman would want. |

Took their class about a month ago. No frills... get in, get out. I guess I didn't care if the class was taught by a female or not though. Some days I forget I'm the gentler sex. Now just waiting for my bg check to go through. |

Quoted: Sierra Firearms is who i would recommend. Sent over 50 women there way with not a single complaint. Solid professionals. Obvious bullshit, there's no way 50 women have hung out long enough around you to receive advice on CCW training. That being said, I did my first CCW training with Sierra 11 years ago, and they were awesome then. |

No bullshit though over the 3 years I worked there I sent hundreds of people to them for everything from CCWs to private training including one guy with disfigured hands they spent a long time finding a gun he could safely operate and in all that time never had a single customer come back with a bad experience |
