I just picked up a handgun from NFA (transfer) yesterday. I was in a hurry and did not check the serial number on the blue card. Got home and found out that the last digit did NOT match. NFA is closed today. Should I just bring the pistol to Metro and re-register? What if NFA have not submit the paper work to Metro, will Metro be able to make the correction or just start with a fresh new registration and issue a new blue card? What happen if I went to Metro and register before NFA's doc arrived at Metro, will this create a conflict? Anyone faced this problem before and what are the necessary steps to make the correction to the error?

Metro will not issue another Blue Card, they will tell you to go back to the dealer and have them issue a new one. Metro will only issue a new Blue Card if they made the mistake. |

Thanks for all replies. Will take a long drive tomorrow to NFA to make the correction. Yg I feel your pain... every time I go ALL the way over there to thanks, Ron Received an email confirmation from NFA that the only mistake was on the blue card. Will get a new blue card with the correct serial number from NFA soon. I wonder if Lock N Load can issue me a blue card (with confirmation of information from NFA) since I am just about 5 minutes from LNL vs. 45 minutes from NFA? Yg |

i had a blue card with a serial number that didn't match the gun. never noticed it until long after got the gun from the dealer. i just went to the Metro substation, i forget if showed them the gun and wrong card, or just treated it as a new registration. redid the paperwork with the right numbers.
sooo, for anyone who says that metro won't do that, i suspect they've never tried it. only reason i double checked was to get it on the CCW paperwork. in this case, since it's just the blue card that's in error, a and you just got it, a return to the FFL is the best way to go. just another reason we need to get rid of the dang blue cards. |

Metro will only issue a new Blue Card if they made the mistake. what if the blue card is lost or damaged? what if the FFL is closed?
and if Metro was being absolutely "pig headed" about no new blue card, just "transfer" it to a buddy for a day, then go back the next day and transfer it back to you. bingo, new blue card!
gotta show a little imagination to solve some problems. not needed in this case, but if you're got a 20+ year old card that's illegible and you need the blue card to get it on your CCW... there IS a solution. |

If there is a mistake on a Blue Card issued by a dealer, Metro will send you back to the dealer. If the card is lost or destroyed Metro will issue a new card and it will say "Dupe" or "Duplicate" on the card. That's the way it has always worked for me, unless they changed it. |
