The ROAD was a phenominal book. But holy shit was it bleak and depressing. I'm having a hard time envisioning how the movie will even come close to replicating how bleak the book was, without worrying about lawsuits from families who had someone commit suicide after watching it, especially during the holidaze. |

'The Road' is Expanding On December 18 and Here are the Target Cities
On December 18, The Road will be expanding and I have been told by a Weinstein Co. rep they are targeting 53 additional markets around the US. Now when I say "targeting" that means they are still working on confirming theatres. So while your city's name may be on this list it still isn't 100-percent confirmed. ... 19. Las Vegas ... |

The same shit happened with Boondock Saints: All Saints Day! Target cities in select theatres only! How much more of a "target" can you get than Las Vegas? They didnt have all saints day anywhere in the state at first but then it showed up at one theater up here so keep your eye out. They move it around from theater to theater |

DAMMIT!
If I had the $$$, I'd fly down to Vegas JUST to see this movie. Blood Meridian - EXCELLENT! book...own it and have read it a few times. Kinda my "Catcher In The Rye"...favorite phrase: "It makes no difference what men think of war, said the Judge. War endures. As well ask men what they think of stone. War was always here. Before Man was, War waited for him. The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner. " The Road and No Country For Old Men are also books of his that I own and have read and re-read. I may have to wait until The Road comes out on DVD (Director's Cut, hopefully)...I am sure that HollyWeird has toned this movie down for the sheeple of Kalifornistan and The People's Republik of New Yak Keep The High Ground, G |

The movie is fantastic, especially by current Hollywood standards. It is just about as dark as the book, with very little left out.
There were three parts in the book that I wondered about making it on to film, with only the most horrific (if you have read the book, you know exactly which flame roasted scene I mean) being left out of tge film. Everything else is in it. I can see why its in limited release, because regular folks arent going to be able to stomach this kind of material. |

I agree, fantastic, outstanding, highly recommended, etc. I know the scene you mention and I think it was replaced by that mob chase across the field. |

Not sure I'd care for that particular form of gruesome considering some of my most recent life change ... |
