Got one too.

Sounds right though. He is on the correct sides of the issues when it comes to the NRA and its members interests.

Yes very true, but on the wrong side of other very meaningful issues.

Call the Carson City # and leave him a message. I did. I can only hope that it helps to secure his positive outlook on this delicate issue.

jeez...mixed emotions.

"Hi, harry?  This is Arin, one of your constituents.  I wanted to call and say thanks real quick for opposing any new gun ban.  And i also wanted to ask you to stop being a complete douche-cock on every other issue."

Thanking Reid for this would be like thanking a serial arsonist for putting out a fire.

You took the words right out of my mouth!!  I got that letter yesterday and thought it was a joke of some sort.  Typical NRA though.......

I vote in MT anyway.....  even my dems up there are pro-gun, so I have it easy.

Yeah and this sounds just like the commercial that was running asking for people to call and thank him for what he's done for NV.

I think he is a little scared about this election.

Why would he be scared? Everyone that's even given a passing thought to running against him while sitting on the crapper has already been silenced. 15 months before the election and who is a viable candidate?  Time's a wastin' if we want to send him packing.

Harry's last vote went something like this.

On the assault weapons amendment ( this was an amendment to include renewal of the assault weapons ban to the bill)  he voted against it.  Now on the face of it that sounds ok.  He has to answer to the voters and the voters like guns.  But this was after they were assured they had the votes to get the amendment passed with out harry's vote.  Remember harry was the senate majority leader at the time ( if memory serves.)

Then on the entire bill (with the assault weapons in place) harry voted for the bill and that vote failed.

Is Harry a friend of gun owners?  Some how I don't think so.

Case number 2.  Sloan.   A very large area in the southern las vegas valley that was used for shooting off roading and other recreational interests.  This area has a natural shooting range and you could not hit the highway even if you tried. You could not hit a house or an aircraft if you tried.

IN the beginning of 2004, there were rumblings of shutting down Sloan to everyone.  The public comments time had passed unnoticed as it was not widely publicized.  The decision was made in 2003 to close Sloan to all recreation starting in January 2004.  The BLM waited until after the elections in November to close down the area.  Coincidence?  Some how I don't think so.  You see harry was running for reelection at that point.  Once reelected they proceeded with the plan to close sloan and mounted a good sized effort to do so.  There is no coincidence.

Harrys land dealings have been at arms length with no easily traceable record.  Harry has managed to get rich in the senate and is rumored to be worth about 4 million, last I heard.  He does live in very private surroundings and in an exclusive apartments in Washington DC.  Far above what he could  afford on a senate salary.

Harry a friend to Nevadans –– Harry a friend to gun owners? –– Only if you have money to give him.

Harry's students are distinguished as well.  I give you Dariel Herrera.

Harry is a democrat first, Nevadan second.

Harry has got to go.

That was very well put.  Do you trust a politician who votes against your individual rights most of the time and then has an exception that oddly enough can help him politically?

Although I think you should apologize to all the serial arsonists out there for comparing them to Reid.

just sent this to NRA-ILA via their contact us page:

"I am very disappointed to have received the letter asking me to thank Senator Reid for his ongoing support of 2nd amendment rights. I will do no such thing! While the NRA is traditionally a firearms group, I also feel that it's members represent this Country's founding moral values of freedom and accountability. Mr. Reid's token support of certain legislative action does not begin to forgive his constant subversion of our liberties or his dishonesty in office. Mr. Reid has been immensely damaging to the economy in order to provide for his own self interests. I hope that in the future the NRA will have a wider scope of reference when it commends a politician. I will be very upset if my member dues continue to be used to support such enemies of freedom."

Let em know!

Anyone send Harry any correspondence? I send an email once in awhile sharing a few thoughts that usually touch on my dislike of his policies and political beliefs. You receive a goofy form letter stating all the wonderful things Harry is doing in Washington. I guess that's probably what all politicians do.

You guys aren't thinking strategically. The NRA is.

These messages aren't really expressions of gratitude. Sending these "thank-yous" serves two purposes. It lets the politician know

1. We're paying attention to gun issues. We haven't gone to sleep. Just because we bought ten years' worth of guns in six months, doesn't mean we're going to concede the issue.

2. There's a LOT of us (assuming a lot of people answer the NRA's call)

It also makes gunnies look reasonable, not like the fringe-y lunatics the media paint us as

Send the thank-you. Then vote against the SOB anyway. Be sneaky and underhanded, like the lefties are. If a jar of mayonnaise was running against Reid, I'd vote for it (goes for his damn kid, as well). It would probably be smarter, and I could use it to make a sandwich.

Fixed it for you, Sometimes he gets it right, mostly when he cannot hide his vote.

I still remember what he did on the Klinton AW ban.
Yes, he voted against the AW ban when it was stand alone legislation.
BUT he voted FOR THE BAN once it was added to the "Omnibus Crime Bill".
He could have prevented it, the vote was THAT close.
But he let it happen, then claimed the new law had so many good things that he "Had" to vote for it.
He still claims he did not vote for the AW ban, but that's not really the whole truth.
F'em!

+1.  That's the way I took it, too.

The NRA isn't saying "vote for him."  They're saying, "Let's give a show of force.  Call him, and let him know who he's fucking with."
