Does anyone know what is being done to rectify this issue?
Update please! |

$25 per day ummm... you don't get a NCIS reciept that you can take to ANOTHER dealer to avoid paying the fee again that day. so, perhaps it's more accurate to say it's $25 per transaction from one dealer. some dealers will hold guns and let you pick up several at one time. |

Quoted:
Nothing is/was done this past legislative session. Looks like two more years until anything can happen. + 1 here! The bill to correct the Nevada CCW exemption from the Brady background died in the 2007 legislature; and, nothing was done in the 2009 legislature to address this issue. Nevada CCW holders' are SOL until - at least - the 2011 Nevada State Legislature meets!

Not quite accurate. Bill drafts to correct this WERE submitted, but the Legislative Counsel Bureau staff screwed them up. When their errors were pointed out, errors that made the bill unconstitutional, their response was that the assemblyman should "just submit it anyway, fix it on the floor with some amendments"! Not very professional of them. I still think the answer is to put Nevada into the federal NICS system in place of the current NHP run POS (Point of Sale) program. Remember, POS told the legislature the fee would DROP once they recovered the cost of computers, then RAISED the fee instead. POS claims they have to charge $25 due to NICS cost, despite the Fed. fee being ZERO. So if we go to the Fed NICS our fee becomes, ZERO dollars! NICS is also available for longer hours and more days. Saving $25 on each transaction might actually help our personal economies, no wonder it's not happening. Nevada is desperate to cut cost, POS claims the Brady Checks are expensive to perform. Perhaps Governor Gibbons can do an executive order canceling the NV POS program in favor of the Fed. system? The NVSCA loves the current POS, they use criteria beyond the federal law to deny more purchases. Dropping the POS would cut into their ability to lord over us, a good thing from my perspective. If we cannot get out from under NV-POS soon, we probably will have to wait until 2011 for relief. But at least by then Bernie Anderson will no longer be abusing the assembly judiciary committee! |

Quoted: Per transaction.Quoted: Question. Is it $25 per transaction or $25 per firearm? Hypothetically if I bought 5 guns at one time is the background fee $25 or $125? I always thought it was a limit of 3? There might only be room on a 4473 for 3 guns, but the $25 will cover all guns transferred at once using multiple 4473's. |
