I've gotten a new job recently and now I've got to deal with the public. Was talking with this professor from oregon who was here for of all things, a time share seminar. lol!!! I bit my tongue. Anyway, she goes on about this and that, and I immediately detect a condescending, ward churchill type dialog with every sentence. Cuts you off when you're trying to contribute to the conversation. I can just see the bumper stickers on her prious, preeous, preeus, whatever.
So the conversation turns to shows and that she wants to eventually see Jersey Boys. I contribute that I recently heard about Joe Pesci's involvement with getting these two introduced; Frankie Valli and the brains / musical genius behind The Four Seasons (Frankie is just the voice). I mentioned Joe Pesci and she doesn't know who the hell he is! She's got to be in her mid to late 50s, at least. Yes there are certainly some like you describe. I think many get used to having their word taken as gospel and everyone having to listen to them so they lose touch with reality. Its like they expect the entire world to be like their own classroom. Many are pretty cool down to earth people however. |
