I paid $189.00 in Boulder City. Since then I've been told Costco sells them for about 160, but i've never checked. The first red top i bought for $125.00 and i got almost 8 years out of it.

As of late last year, optima batteries are being made in Mexico.

It's hard to imgine how the quality of the product would not suffer.

Check amazon.com.  I bought a yellowtop through them last year, on the avg. compared to local retail pricing they were $80 cheaper w/o tax, and it was a free shipping item choosing the 5-9 day delivery, actually received it in 3 days.

I was twisting wrenches for a living until a couple of years ago. I never though too higly of Optimas anyway.

I have the blue top in my toyota. I can't remember how many times I have left the key on (bad ignition switch) for weeks and the battery is dead, dead, dead.

jump it and go, I have not had any issues with my Optima in the 4 years I have owned it.

I got mine at batteries +

I was going to put one in my Jeep CJ. Then I found I can buy TWO Marine Starting batteries at walmart, a dual battery tray, and the shorty cables to connect them for LESS than one Optima. I've been running that setup for over a year now and am very happy.

this is what i think im going to do, did you just run poistive and negative cables to the main battery? any special set-up?

Now granted, I only saw the ones that had problems, but I've dealt with a few customer's cars that came in for starting issues only to find a faulty, but new optima battery installed.
The worst are Dura-last- complete junk.

I like the heavy duty Interstates, the ones with the black cases, not the white ones ith the green tops.

I paid $155 for a blue top (most expensive G34, deep cycle marine battery) from Sams Club last April.

I just connected the positives and negatives together with some shorty cables. The marine batteries have an extra terminal that makes this easy. This just doubles your amperage and capacity. There are fancier ways to do it to isolate one of the batteries to run a winch or something though. To do it this way you should use two of the same battery.
