| I see on the NLVPD web site that there is a pre-testing seminar tomorrow Jan. 17. Does anyone have any information as for time, location and if I needed to sign up for this or can I just show up? |

Just go. All they can say is 'no'.
ETA: I just ran up their site and see why you ask. Gee, they don't make it easy do they? Hmmm, Metro sure makes it easier to go through the process, maybe you should try out for us? Join Metro! |

LVMPDDawg-
Does Metro forsee any potential for layoffs with all the economy continually going down the tube? I'm looking at making the jump from civi LE employee (in CA) to sworn next year. But I'm concerned about being the low man on the totem pole if any layoffs were to happen. You can email me if you'd rather not answer this on a public forum. Sorry for the sidetracking Gixxer. |

No problem on asking other questions, its actually info that I would like to know also. I think that the seminar is somewhere around Washington and Allen, just wish I had an address. Also if any LE read this, what's the process for getting in on a ride along. Doesn't matter if it's for Metro or North Town I would just like to get a feel what a day in the life is like. |

Not Metro but i know that the City of NLV is in a hiring freeze for all positions except public safety - fire/PD. |

Is this regarding northtown or Metro? Is this the pre-testing seminar? He was being facetious, 2 NLVPD Officers were arrested earlier in the week on charges stemming from an incident there. There will be no layoffs for Metro, as a matter of fact, we are still filling additional Academies from the 1/4 cent tax hike, up until the deal expires sometime this summer. Unknown if it will be extended for us, or if City/County entities will attempt to absorb it into their agendas, or if they'll let it die completely. |

LVMPD has gone down in the hiring numbers. Their goal was 40 per month. Due to the holiday problems and the structure, the numbers aren't feasible.
They have lowered it to 10 forty person academies per year. Layoffs aren't going to happen....... In one year, you will have 400 people below you. Think of it like that |

I hope to take the plunge early next year. |
