I posted this in the "for those coming to Vegas" thread but didn't get any response so I made a new topic.

I'll be a first time visitor to Vegas on Saturday and be leaving Thursday. It's business so my days are tied up till 5:00 P.M. I've got a couple of questions.

From Las Vegas McCarran International Airport to Ceasar's Palace how long of a cab ride is it and what should I expect to pay? Should I tell the cab driver a specific route(Paradise Rd)?

Looking at weather.com temps look to be in the daytime 80's or at night in the high 50s. From what I understand though the low humidity of the desert climate makes the nights pretty cold. How do most people dress in Mid October?

I love good food and good beer, near Ceasar's what are some places that are a must try? Is dress pretty casual?

Caesar's may send a shuttle to pick up guests from the airport for free.  Check into that.  It'd be way cheaper than a cab.  There are also strip shuttles that run from McCarran to any/all hotels for a flat rate, IIRC.  You can find them at the taxi/limo/shuttle curb.  Just ask someone at the airport, or follow the signs.  If you're truly on a budget, it may save you $10+ or so.

Paradise Road is not the way I'd go, FTR.  It would probably be a short distance to travel via Swenson-Flamingo, but whether or not it's actually faster depends on the time of day.

Sorry, I have no clue what current cab rates are like.  Thankfully, I've never had to use one here in town.

eta:  As far as weather goes, it gets cool here in Oct, but I think the worst of our recent cold snap has passed for a couple weeks at least.  You'll be fine with a light jacket if you plan on being out late at night.  During the day short sleeves will be fine.

Places to eat near Caesars.....  every hotel has a buffet you can try.  The one at the Rio is pretty good, but I haven't been there for a few years.  Spago's is in the Forum Shops at Caesars.  There's a GREAT (but expensive) steakhouse in the Venetian called Delmonico.  Can't think of anything that's truly "must try" around there though.... sorry.

Cab fare to Caesar's from the airport will be around $20 - $25, depending on traffic. It's very quick to get from the airport to the Strip, and the cab drivers will use the fastest route.

I hate shuttles.

Joe's inside the forums is good, not cheap, but good.

Maggiano's inside the fashion show mall is good also. Not sure the distance exactly between the two.

Eat at in and out burger if you have time. Delicious fast food burger place.

It must me lunch time, because I am hungry.

Funny, they prefer the long route and "tunnel" everyone they can. The cabs get paid by the mile, so the quickest route isn't always in their best interest.

Ask for the Paradise way. Should be just as fast and a shorter distance. It may also depend on when you arrive as to traffic conditions. Considering the work on I-15 and the traffic during the afternoons, I would make sure I wasn't being tunneled.

And the shortest route is not always the fastest route.  I agree cabs like to get there fast, but also by adding up as much mileage as they can.

I hate shuttles too, but whether or not one wants to take one depends on how much of a budget they are on, and if saving 20-30 minutes is worth the $$.

Like I said though, a lot of times the hotels will send limos to shuttle folks to their properties.... maybe Caesars still does it.... I don't know.

He'd have to take Swenson up though, not Paradise, since Paradise is one way from Harmon south.    Paradise goes south, Swenson goes north.  Either way though, you'll get to go see "Gay Town."
