Can I just give the gun to the buyer and he/she can go to one of the police substations to registered it?  Yes, this person has a clean record (purchased handgun from me before and registered it).

I did the same thing when I sold one of my buddies a pistol.  He left straight from my house and went to the substation.  No one gave him any gas about it.  Another time ANIMUS and I went to the sub over on Mojave after trading pistols (Yeah ANIMUS, you know the the pistol I'm talking about, fucker. ) and all the ladies did there was register the guns.

Do you trust the person?

That is the key.

Stranger=meet at the station.

I have had people give me a gun and not sweat meeting me there, while others sit there while I went behind the glass and did all the registration myself.

I believe the County code requires the gun to be registered before or as part of the transfer.  So, if you have a registered gun and sell it, no need for you to make sure the gun gets registered in the new owner's name.  You may want to for other reasons, but I don't believe you are required to do so.

This is my recollection--which could be, and often is, wrong.  Just ask my wife
