The other day I saw a 4x4 police truck hauling a horse trailer with LVMPD Mounted Police on the side. I was a little. In all my years in Vegas I have never seen a mounted officer before.

Where exacly do they patrol? Have they started patroling the strip now? I rarely go there in the evenings anymore so maybe I've just never seen them.

Maybe that explains the pile of horse poo I saw the other day

I have seen them downtown, they work the big events on the strip and downtown

Downtown and major crime areas (usually projects).

A small squad of full time officers and a small pool of additional officers for major events.

The best crowd control tool there is...... getting ran over by a horse is usually not appealing to people.

I saw them Friday afternoon on LVBS, in front of Monte Carlo (Diablo's). I've seen them downtown before, but this was the first time I've seen them on the strip.

Cool by me, as long as I don't step in horse pucky.

If you've ever gone down to the strip on New Year's, you would have seen the mounted police.

Nothing clears a crowd like a stamping horse.

That's what I figured. I haven't been to the strip in the evening for years.

Now I know if I do, I'll have to watch my step
