How many of you would entrust a neighbor to come into your Habitat to check/feed your Canine? or Critters for that matter Just Curious thought |

Sadly, most of my neighbors have moved away and the new ones that are renting dont seem to be the friendly type.....They are the type like I wave and they just stare at me....or while walking to the mailbox notice that the interior light to his truck is on and i knock on the door to let him know and all he says is 'ok' and closes the door....same thing happened when I noticed his truck door wide open for a few hours. |
This is a weird Vegas thing IMO. I've lived from one end of this country to the other during the last 20 years and I've never been anywhere like it is here. Don't get me wrong, I somewhat enjoy relative privacy over the "everybody knows everyone else's business better than the person in question actually does" places however, they take privacy to an entire new level here. I think I'll call it the "I don't give a shit about nobody buy myself mentality". Perhaps it originally stemmed from the old mob days but now I think it's just a lot of self-absorbed a-holes acting accordingly. |

I think its just people in Las Vegas in general are assholes. The mentality people have anymore is to stay inside and cut themselves off from the world. Now those kind of people I really don't want anything to do with anyways. The whole meaning of the word community is people getting together to socialize, improve their living space, and help one another out when in need. Most people however are content to shut themselves off and keep to themselves. It doesn't hurt to be a little friendly and give someone a little help when they need it. Now do you want neighbors who are in your business? No, but at least its nice to know you have neighbors who look out for you. When I lived in an apartment and had been in Vegas a few years, I got used to people in my complex staying away from each other. One day a new family moved in and not long after that I hear a knock at the door. What did I see when I opened the door? A husband and wife with their 2.5 children in tow. They came to introduce themselves. They were a nice family that had moved from somewhere in the bible belt and they even brought a nice loaf of bread for me and my wife to enjoy. I had a nice conversation to with them for a bit and they excused themselves. At first I was rather takenaback by the whole affair but then impressed at their tact and hospitality. I was also happy they picked my door and not the hood rats next door. That bread was pretty damn good too. |
That sort of thing is just unheard of now. It is sad when you don't even know the first names of any of the people you have lived next door to for years, but it is standard in LV/Hend. Only LDS and kids selling magazines ever knock on my door, unless it is FedEx/UPS/USPS. |
