I'm still somewhat in shock. OK- 134 days door to door for the renewal. Maybe you all remember my post- I called at the 120 day mark and was told they had lost my prints...later that day, they called back again and said they had found the prints. New permit arrived shortly thereafter. Last week, they called AGAIN- they APOLOGIZED for the inconvenience, and sent another new permit...this one expires in 2013! So I have a six year permit now...all I can say is...WOW. hey So...kudos to Metro...and NYC still stinks! 2009 will also bring "ballistic fingerprinting" there...and that includes my 10/22....that's an assault weapon in NYC btw...has one of those evil detachable magazines! Grrrrrrr. OK. Vent over. Stay safe, all- Mike |
Exactly..The new permit came to my new address though but I don't trust people at their word anymore so I will call again to make sure it is updated in the system..It's not that hard to change and address if you are already in the system to add a gun to it. |
To this date... I have not heard of anyone being cited or "hauled" away based on the address not matching. That would be a charge added on if you did something else incredibly stupid. |
Agreed 100% and thats why I posted it,You know Darn well it can happen to Cover your Butt Daggnabbit! and keep it Legal regardless(stuff happens) change the Card whatever 'In Print' It goes down easier if you have all your Ducks lined up with the PoPo than it goes that much better and sleep better rested Ill fated choices are yours |
I just got my brand new one yesterday and the accompanying letter stated in big bold letters that there's a fine associated with not notifying them of a change of address within 30 days of the move. Now I'm not going to argue your point about not getting arrested, but it sure seems to me that if they take it that seriously they could show a little more concerne on their end. It takes all of about five minutes to update the information in the system and print out a new card. |
REALLY!??!! I didn't know you work for Metro's Fingerprint unit or Metro's CCW. Golly gee whiz..... maybe that's a grand idea. By the way.... I don't see anyone bitching about NV's DMV..... I hear plenty of people tell me that they updated their address by state law with DMV and claim they never got a 'sticky' for the back of their license. Happened to me and the people at DMV just said "don't worry about it, it's in the system". I see more people get cited for 'failure to change address' when some traffic officer is citing him/her for speeding. |
I got the same leter with my permit and that's why I called them and the girl that answered said that as long it's in the system then I am ok..but I tend to like to have the current address on my permit since like you said..It only takes 5 miutes to update and print a new card..But I have a feeling that I am going to have to pay to have a new one printed because they were too lazy to do it when they had to add my gun to it anyway.
