The officer in this incident is the partner of a friend of mine.  Just got the word.  Here are some additional details.

My friend and team mate, xxxxx was shot tonight. The shit stain ran from police after shoplifting from a mall. As xxxxx rounded a corner while chasing the suspect he was shot. xxxxx was hit in the initial volley with several rounds of .45 fired from a Glock at 5-7 yards. One round hit xxxxx in the chin and destroyed his jaw exiting out the neck. Two rounds stuck xxxxx in the upper thigh/ hip. These rounds put xxxxx down. Fuck head then stepped over xxxxx and continued to shoot into xxxxx's chest. It is thought that 4-6 rounds impacted xxxxx's vest. As this happened xxxxx drew his pistol and fired as he stood back up. He and fuck head grabbed each other with their off hands as they both emptied their pistols into each other. Fuck head died within seconds. xxxxx got out of surgery a few hours ago. He with be OK. He with need to have several reconstructive surgeries to rebuild his jaw.

'Nuff said.

Indeed.

Reminds me of the shooting here involing the off-duty officer at a bar armed only with a little .25.  That dude soaked up a few .40 rounds from what I remember.

Wasn't going to give up and let the little POS win.

May the officer have a speedy recovery.

There's one POS that won't be in the system, sucking up people's tax dollars. Too bad the officer had to suffer for it, though.

Hope he recovers 100% from the ordeal.

update.

xxxxx was awake briefly today and had a few questions which he wrote down. His jaw is wired shut.
- Where is yyyyy (fiancee)?
- Is fuck head dead?
- Where is my SWAT coin? (it was recovered at the scene. It had fallen out of his pocket during the fight. He remembered seeing it on the ground as rescue worked on him.
- Did I perform professionally?

This last question is a common one and further speaks to quality of this kid. So many men I've had the privilege to meet fear failure more than death.

While all of us fear death or serious injury at some level the prevailing thought at the forefront of concern for many real studs is the fear they will perform poorly or in a less than honorable fashion. Letting their men, team and brothers down when those days find us outweighs thoughts of self preservation.

Wow.
Good man, great Cop. I could only hope to be as good when it happens to me.

The officer should be very proud, and happy as he has now had the worst day of his life, and lived to tell about it.

The crime here is that he has had to pay so high a personal price for society's well being.  The elite (Klintonians) believe themselves immune and simply do not understand what lurks outside their doorway. (Other than the SS detail of course.)

The flip side is of course that somebody's child would never do somtin like dat.  He a good boy, you know.

If I could add music, it time for Elivs and "In the Ghetto."   How long ago was that...

Dorsai,

Best wishes for your friends speedy recovery.

Someone obviously told him somewhere along the line in his training to "always finish what you start."
