I went a did the shooting qual thang a few days ago to add about 5 more guns to my carry permit.  My permit expires in May 08.  Can I sit on the qual. paperwork for a couple months, take the requalification class here soon, and then submit all the Metro?

I thought I read here you could do the prequal class and shooting up to 120 days before your permit expires, which if true, would fit into my scenario above.

The letter they send out says to start the process 120 days prior to the expiration.

You have up to one year to file a 1st time application, a renewal application, or a gun addition application.

I suggest that my students take the course at least six months before the expiration date (to get it out of the way) and then file the renewal application at least 120 days before the expiration.

ETA: Why didn't the instructor that qualified you for your gun additions answer those questions?

Just wonderin'.

I didn't ask.

I went in with a friend to add some, and wasn't thinking about the renewal in May.

Yes, you can 'sit' on it.  The qualification paperwork is good for 1 full year from the date you qualified.
