|
aahh yes Cartoon City,Americana gone to Hell I still remember the original firing range, before the Golf course went in,,,,,yes Oh the Memories and the Ormsby House was owned by the Laxalts,,,I will venture to guess the new comers don't know the existence of the Nevada State Museum and it's significance in Nevada History,,,tis' a shame I used to live in Carson City,,,,in the day when it was America and I walked to School |

Carson kicks ass. One of the best shops in the area is over there. The Pawn shops there kick ass too.
You would guess wrong. |
Tis' a shame |
You mean the Mint? Some of us newcomers know the history. My wife grew up here and tells me how much it's changed. But still, no matter how bad it gets, it's still better than Reno! |

HIWA, Are you drinkin'? I can usually follow you but I am lost on this one.
Cool things about Carson: Falls at King's Canyon (anybody know if we can go back up there? Is the reforestaion project still off limits?) Carson Armory The Mint/Nevada State Museum. I spent many hours just gazing at the firearms as a kid. I still do it when I get the chance. I always find something I never noticed before or that just rings my bell. Nevada Gun Exchange. The antique shops on Curry street. Lone Mountain Cemetery. Spent a lot of time with Ol' Abe Curry and some Civil War vets. The Capitol Complex, especially the Capitol building itself. The Children's Museum. The river. Don't eat the carp. Crappy things: Total lack of English comprehension by the residents. Meth meth meth meth meth gangs meth meth meth and methgangs. |
|
There is also the Carson Range, which is great, even at night. On the things that suck about Carson I missed: The never-ending bypass saga. Mills Park after dark. "Hey Sailor!" The never completed Ormsby House saga. The Texiera saga. The inability of the City to stop the financial hemorrhaging. Ooops, we lost WalMart. Byebye Kmart. No way Jethro. Golly, how come we have no money and no work? Don't get me wrong, as a Douglas resident, it works entirely to my benefit, since the commercial lameness is all on the North end of the county, but the tax benefit is spread all over. I just find it sad that Carson has been allowed to go to hell. OOOOOH. Americana gone to hell. I get it. 'tis a shame. |
I did'nt Lie man |
one year Carson River was so low we were shooting Carp below Mexican Dam,,,,,I would'nt eat anything out of that river either EYUCK |
| Born and raised. Still live here and watch it turn shittier day by day, starbucks by starbucks, and gang tag by gang tag. I work for the State Gov't. and get inside info on all kinds of fun stuff from time to time. I'm 24, plan on retiring around 43 and heading for TX- provided, this country is still in a state of being to where I can move freely about it. |
I admit ignorance. Care to give me a reader's digest version? |

The Nevada State Museum is housed in the building that was the Carson City Mint. Lots of California gold and Nevada Silver was minted into coinage there, back when money was made of precious metal. They still occasionally fire up the coin press and mint some collectible coins. The museum itself is fantastic if you are into Nevada history. The gun collection alone is worth admission, and the mine exhibit is always great fun. Tourist tip: Don't visit when gunmonkey is there. In the mine, there is one exhibit where the rock crusher has a hard to find button to push and make it operate. It is very loud, and the mine is very quiet. Gunmonkey has, since childhood waited for large groups of tourists, preferably asians or Californians (trust me, I have this down to a science), to pass near exhibit, then nonchalantly fire up the racket. Gunmonkey likes to frighten the tourists

Awesome, just awesome...run away the people that are the only reason we have revenue, the only reason we have starbucks, the only reason you pay 1200. a month in rent to someone who bought 6 houses and doesn't even live in this state...keep going buddy...then some people wonder why NV remained rural for so long. Do you want this state to go back to having nice quiet neighborhoods, quiet streets, and sagebrush fields? How would you like it if it only took you several minutes to get home, instead of enjoying nice overcrowded streets and 5 'o clock traffic? If you run all these people off, we'll have no reason to build more of those beautiful stoplights. Next time you go to do that, please think carefully... Then push that fucking button twice! |
, Don't listen to Ron the Carp in the Carson River Taste great!
