| Anyone here ever install an aftermarket heavy barrel on a 10/22 and then have extraction problems? I have an old 10/22 and it just might be due for new parts but just asking. It's a Clerke barrel. |

Could be a tight chamber or manufacturing burrs left behind. Clean properly. Check the extractor engagement cut on the new barrel and it's relationship to the extractor as it presents itself in the bolt. It's critical that the extractor lines up perfectly with the relief cut in the barrel. If it's a little too high or low, the extractor claw may not be grabbing the empty for positive extraction. |

Ditto to the above. Also be sure the extractor cut is right to the chamber wall so it has the "reach" to get fully over the rim. Think of all the Volquartzen parts sold for this! Some times after removing the extractor a small Swiss grobet file can allow the extractor to get closer if you know where to work. Last option is alittle bit stronger spring for the extractor. |
and that's what matters,,Forge on |
Use care when installing the new spring and extractor. It's easy to loose the spring under high tension. There's a combo tool for bolt removal/install and extractor removal/re-install that's VERY handy and well worth the money if you can locate one. IMHO, The best bang for the aftermarket buck is a VQ hammer. Oddly enough, replacing the hammer decreases the trigger pull. |
